  1. The first two are cool, im guessing the others are work in progress? Love Nash's work, particularly the wooden boulder, and it's associated story. Roger Deakin had a lot of good things to say about him in "Wildwood" Is this a permenant installation at Kew or limited time only?
  2. I relocated, back to family and mrs, having been away working for a few years. I came back with a job but wasn't happy with the standards at the new place so decided to give it a go alone. Fair bit of work coming in but I could always have more!
  3. I was told a few months ago the old system is being phased out. Apparently, if you have the yellow NRSWA Streetworks card you're all good though:confused1: I did mine in 2009 and have the card so I'm told the changes don't apply to me. How much is hearsay though I don't know
  4. Pulley saver all the time, until I moved to srt that is
  5. Fine touch, a bit of wear in the cam and a pulley saver!
  6. An old boy on a mobility scooter did just that on the news last night! He had to sit and wait for someone to push him out!
  7. Just done the first thin on a wood I helped plant when I was six. I did some beating up in there over the years too. I've got a greenhouse full whips that started out as seeds in my pockets from jobs, some of which have been through the washing machine:blushing: I made the decision a few years ago to plant more than I fell. Done a bit of ninja planting too!
  8. A friend and I were in the closing stages of our canoe and someone broke into the wood yard and nicked it! When I get a big enough disc I'm going to try to make a skiff type thing, one man, cross legged affair
  9. Disposable burgers?! I should be there, weather permitting
  10. All of the above I've heard, apart from the single block of ali
  11. I'm also happy to travel for work, should the need arise
  12. Makes sense, I think its the long stints on natural that does the damage.
  13. You can on my android but its really slow and glitchy
  14. Anyone using natural crotch redirects? I've got two revolvers with tape slings, but when there has been a nice crotch I've gone for that. I'm finding its massively wearing my rope, not good! The other option of crab/revolver seems ok, but its a very tight bend radius for the rope, particularly on a single leg of rope, even more so when putting a full load on it. Anyone finding the same things? I may start using something bigger for redirects, micro pulleys were my first thought. Any ideas?
  15. I need to take more pictures! My problem is I'm always up the tree, phone in the truck so I don't break it! Point well made Andy, and duly noted
  16. I'm a grafter with commitment to the job, customer and contractor. I come down and drag brash, sweep up, stay until the job is done. I have a passion for arb, which comes across readily to those I work with, as well as great pride in my work. I've worked as a lead climber and team leader, with guys of different levels of experience and skill, always fitting in and running with the team. When I'm working under others, I'm happy to take orders and work to tight deadlines. I'm capable of motivating and encouraging the team whenever it's needed. I'm experienced with a wide range of machinery including Unimogs and forwarders. I've got a good grasp of mechanics and have on numerous occasions managed to fix broken plant on site, helping to bring jobs in on time. It's perhaps not entirely relevant, but I also set the fastest work climb at the East of England Cutters and Climbers last weekend. Give me a chance and you shouldn't be disappointed.
  17. That's exactly how I use my rw/lj combo. I'm going to tighten the wrench up and use an oversized cam in the lj to see if it aids self tending, whilst maintaining the right friction
  18. Don't bother changing anchors, just redirect, then take them out when you're finished. Anchor wise I mostly use a top anchor with a running bowline. I find there is a lot of sit back on base anchors when you load/unload your rope at the top of the tree. Running bowlines aren't retrievable unless you drop a throwline etc, but on srt it's not hard to get back up to untie it:thumbup:
  19. Hi, Some of you know me, some don't. Hopefully we can change that! I'm now available for freelance climbing work in East Anglia. I'm qualified to NPTC CS41, CSCS, NRSWA Operative, First Aid Appointed Person, B1+E Driving Licence. I've plenty of experience in trees of all sizes, crane work, reductions, retrenchment etc. CV available upon request. Many Thanks, Dan 07789 950455
  20. Hi Nick, I've got the forms ready for Cirencester, can I pay on the day? Chequebooks seem to be going out of fashion and I'm still waiting on one I ordered four years ago!
  21. There are quite a few aren't there! I debated re reading the thread to see if I'd missed anything good, but had second thoughts:lol:
  22. I think Ian Flatters uses one, there's a link to some pictures of his somewhere in the thread. At a guess somewhere between pages 70 - 90
