  1. I doubt stein would like you calling it a pantin, hush hush or not. Going for a commision now with the PTT?!
  2. Haha, I look proper monged in those pictures! Loving your lunge mate, bit of advertising never hurt anyone
  3. Most of my pictures are pretty poor, perhaps my phone didn't survive the fall as well as I'd hoped:blushing:
  4. Did you see anything on Saturday you liked the look of? You should've asked to try other people's set ups, thats what the climbs are all about. If I were you I'd start off by adding a pulley to your hitch. It can be done with the prussik but would be less complicated if you did it with a different hitch eg. VT, distel etc. Are you going to the arb show this weekend? If so, have a good look at other people's gear and ask as many questions as you can:thumbup:
  5. With a limbo stick, put it lower and lower
  6. Rw and pantin are the way to go. You could footlock but i'd advise having the pantin as it makes life easier and as you say, footlocking against the stem would be hell. The official advice is to use ppe rated tethers, so I would follow that. I use a cut away strop with the lj, other guys use cord with thimbles added in. It's really down to personal preference.
  7. Some good ones there mate, was a good day. We should repeat it soon if the weather holds out
  8. Are you stood on the piece you're cutting in the first pic? Looks like fun!
  9. Not sure as yet, I haven't seen this years site. I think we'll be in a big chestnut. Be good to see you if you make it
  10. Come along to the cirencester show, I'm demoing srt with the rope wrench and art gear. Between the lads there we should be able to point you in the right direction. Oh and the rw feedback thread is an epic read that'll set you in good stead for making the transition
  11. My thought's entirely. One attachment via toothed ascender is not good. Looks bloody efficient though. Not sure about him saying that you can work in the sit position, working off ascenders?
  12. As far as the effect on other bird populations, lapwing etc, is concerned, it's the food chain, buzzards are high on it so naturally they need prey animals. The biggest killer is us, and the effects of pesticides, herbicides, modern humanity. Is madness to cull/capture/destroy nests of buzzards!
  13. Do you use your sj much anymore joe?
  14. Yeah, it needs a bit of thought and good rope management but it can work if you put your mind to it. Maybe descend on the prussik as much as possible to remove the tail that side, save the hitchclimber for branch walking. I used to use it occasionally when I was on a hc, works great, it helps to have a swivel too. Or you could get your groundy to pull your slack when you body thrust the distel?
  15. Body thrusting is about the least efficient method of climbing, and long term has the potential to wreck your body. For efficiency, use a pantin or footlock. Or cobble up a rads system for ddrt, I know a good one but being 3:1, it's sloooowwwww. I went for efficiency and now climb only srt, it's the way forward, but thats another thread:thumbup:
  16. If you don't like the pantin, and want to body thrust while keeping the distel.... Have you tried swapping your spliced end for a prussik? Ie creating two working ends, no standing end? Put a krab and prussik on the top eye of the hc, tied to the spliced end. You then have the option of either system as you see fit, and no need to adjust anything extra. Stopper knots are a must in both ends and keep an eye on where you are in relation to tails. That's the only thing I can think of that hasn't been said, without adding to all the buy this, buy that nonsense!
  17. Or taking down terrorists at the olympics!
  18. Seen that vid floating about but only just watched it. My nephew keeps pestering me to free climb just so he can see it. I'm beginning to push my limits with it now, smaller branches, bigger gaps etc. Of course I'm aware of the tree's physiological limits so I'm not losing my head but there is such a freedom with it.
  19. Nice, I'm coming that way in a few weeks, I'll try to get to Kew if time allows
  20. The first two are cool, im guessing the others are work in progress? Love Nash's work, particularly the wooden boulder, and it's associated story. Roger Deakin had a lot of good things to say about him in "Wildwood" Is this a permenant installation at Kew or limited time only?
  21. I relocated, back to family and mrs, having been away working for a few years. I came back with a job but wasn't happy with the standards at the new place so decided to give it a go alone. Fair bit of work coming in but I could always have more!
  22. I was told a few months ago the old system is being phased out. Apparently, if you have the yellow NRSWA Streetworks card you're all good though:confused1: I did mine in 2009 and have the card so I'm told the changes don't apply to me. How much is hearsay though I don't know
  23. Pulley saver all the time, until I moved to srt that is
