  1. Happy birthday Jon mate have a good 'un
  2. Aprrox 14-16" ash with about 15-20 degree forward lean, felled off the far bank of a ditch back onto the field, saved my back as no bending as stood in the ditch
  3. Gone from dry and sunny this morn to showery this aft and now lashing it down
  4. Made a start on clearing some self set, ash, hawthorn and elder from up the side of a ditch where they were encroaching into the field and obstructing access to the ditch for maintenance, also meant I got to fell something of a reasonable size for first time in a while
  5. Yep lit again tonight, mind need it to dry ny boots out for the morn lol
  6. Cold wet and windy here again today, had the fire lit last night for first time in a week or two and probably be same again tonight
  7. Haha, very true, when I'm hedge laying all the elder comes out and gets round up on the stumps, else it outgrows the hedge, shades it and then dies off leaving a gap, although, I have to admit, elderberry wine, elder flower champagne and even elderberry pie are all good reasons to keep it if you have the time and patience to collect enough berrys/flowers
  8. Not tried it yet, but I was told the other day a light smear of vicks vapour rub on exposed skin will deter them and also if bitten a light smear on the bite will reduce the irritation and aid healing
  9. High winds and heavy rain here today, gave up and went in the workshop this afternoon to make a start on the long list of repairs thats been building up
  10. Always use click-forestry if I want any trees, always supply good quality
  11. I would'nt touch Natwest with a bargepole, they have had my business account twice in the past and I had nothing but trouble both times despite assurances to the contrary, they will screw you anyway they can I have'nt used Barclays for the business, mainly because there our nearest branch is about 7 miles away, they were very helpfull when I was considering moving my business account last year, mind they all are when after a new customer I've been with Lloyds for nigh on 15 years now, have had a few niggles in that time but seem to be best of a bad lot to be honest
  12. I had a load of Star Wars stuff I got cheap off a lad at school, including an AT-AT, Millenium Falcon etc and even the cardboard Death Star, damned if I know what happened to it as I don't ever remember selling it all, still got some figures left though
  13. Been concreting today, very sunburnt but managed to get it done in time to get home and showered and changed to go out for a steak dinner with Mrs csservices, first time we been out in quite a while with one thing and another
  14. 2 Husky and 2 Stihl if you include the polesaw, if its going on the one you pick up first then at the minute its the 30 year old stihl as both the Huskys have died
  15. I've got magnetic signs on my van, black writing on white background nice and simple, only downside is I had them made to fit the side panels on an escort van, so I have to keep buying escort vans so the signs fit
  16. Few years ago I bought some big oak all 3-4ft butts, we just ringed them up and then used vertical splitter, two of us could fill a 4 and a 6 ton corn trailer in a day going steady, not sure what m3 that equates to but from memory there was 40 ton I bought and think it tool us about 4 days to shift it all
  17. Same old, same old, the only ones who benefit from the extra regulation and associated training will be the ones running the training courses, its already manadatory in the construction sector, all plant tickets have to be renewed every 3 years from memory, I know at least one man who has given up several of his tickets as a result as he is a one man band he cannot afford the time and cost involved to do the refresher courses and now only does his backhoe and dumper ones
  18. Nice enough for me to be sunburnt after today and the swallows have turned up at last too
  19. Managed about another ten minutes weeding tonight and broke the fork have to try and remember to bring the spare one back from the yard else I'll be on me hands and knees weeding
  20. Actually I was thinking at the last local elections we only had one candidate on the ballot paper as nobody else stood, maybe even the councillors are apathetic
  21. Still trying to get my veg patch dug over, its over run with bitter cress again and tomatoes etc have been slowed down a bit by the wind blowing the door off the greenhouse
  22. Nice one mate, sometimes you just drop lucky, I picked up a Husky brush cutter at farm sale once for £80 got 2 years trouble free out of it and then had to buy a new exhaust which cost me £80 on its own
  23. Yep had a pair of winter boots off Strauss the other year, lasted pretty well to be honest ones still fine but the other has split through the side so are resigned to dry work at the minute, think I might have a look what they've got I know Strauss stuffs not the cheapest but its decent quality
  24. As usual had absolutely zero info from any of the candidates, so my opinion is if they can't be bothered to put themselves out to let me know who I'm voting for I'm not wasting my time voting
  25. Not according to the leaflet I got from Natwest after I had taken it out, its carefully worded in such a way that self employed are'nt actually covered, or at least the chances of you making as succesful claim on it are pretty much zero, though I have found out since that it is illegal to sell ppi to self employed, can't remember the exact reasons, think its in the banking regulations
