  4. This has seriously concerned me. I am thinking of logs as a sideline to work my property and I have set a target of processing 200 cube this year to start off
  5. What type of wood are you selling ... is it mainly pop or a mix?
  6. What type of moisture meter have you bought and how much?
  7. Whilst I wont actually be selling any logs until next season I really do think alot of you are under selling yourselves .... considering the time and effort a cube of hardwood has got to be worth minimum £80.

  11. Yes ... just started using them but the problem is that my tractor (John Deere 955) cant lift them to stack.

Chopped poplar with a sprinkling of elm encased in billets of poplar supported on pallets tenderly placed on bricks with a centre of old fence posts then season for one year … not a Marks and Spencer woodpile but a Dave Martin woodpile…. with a little help from tips gained on Arbtalk from people such as Davetaz and others.
  13. I`m going to have two days off from the nineteen months I`ve had off since I sold my business ... apart from chopping logs but thats not really work is it
  14. I worked in the petrol industry for 33 years self employed since the age of 21. Set up my last company in 1985 and built, re-developed and operated my own petrol stations and got quite a buzz out of it at times but just like all other industries it changed. One day I was sat at my desk and thought `I just dont enjoy this anymore`. I had the best cameras money could buy, great mountain bike, beautiful guns (I dont kill things though) quad bikes, horses, my own gym, nice house with five acres but I never got to enjoy any of it because I was always at work, so I sold because I figured it was time to find the time to smell the roses. You only get one shot so dont settle for hum drum.
  15. This made me think of a phrase that I always used to quote after interviewing teenagers who would tell me they ultimately wanted to be Accountants, Lawyers, Architects etc etc ....... `Whos going to dig the ditches`
