  1. How are the bags supported whilst they are filled?? I have just started using some 1 cube bags but awkward to support whilst I fill them .... thinking I need to make a supporting frame??? Any tips?
  2. Take a look at the end of the poplar thread in the firewood forum ... some good ideas there.
  3. Now had you said its £70 a load and that is about one and a half builders bags he would have probably snapped your hand off.
  4. Looks like I`ve got a load of quality firewood then:thumbup: Thanks for the advice.
  5. I dont understand all the negative comments about elm ... it is quoted as 2-3 in the AIE firewood guide:confused1:
  6. It was just over £2600 inc. vat and with a table and 4 way knife thrown in. I was going to go for the 20ton one but opted for the 16 as I wanted it to be well in the scope of the tractor (35hp) and as mentioned before I have found nothing that it cannot cope with. Being vertical does make those big lumps more manageable:thumbup1:

  14. My former petrol retailing business was with Natwest with overdraft facility at times in excess of 150k and was with them for 21 years ... means nothing in the end when the faceless people at `head office` who never meet you say turn the screws.
  15. I have read this ... and also read that poplar is rubbish but in practice burns well ... I have also seen adverts for firewood saying that it includes Laburnum as a selling point ... very confusing:confused1:
  16. I am splitting a load of tree surgery waste today and have noticed it contains alot of laburnum .. I have read differing reports on this for use as firewood .. any advise??

    poplar

When I first had my wood burners installed I logged a large poplar that had blown down about 5 years ago only to read lots of bad press about it as firewood but in practice it is excellant.

  23. Untill I started to read this site I intended to buy crates for storage whilst checking with planning on extending a Dutch barn but now billeting seems to be the cheap easy option.
