  1. I must say that it is nice keep hearing everyone say `its huge`
  2. Thanks for the explanation Steve
  3. Its called new house extension involving builders, plumbers, electrician, tilers, carpet fitters, stove fitters etc etc
  4. Was awake from 2 so got up to try and clear my head but never got back to sleep absolutely k**ck***d now
  5. For a while now I have not been able to get to the Home Page on Arbtalk, it just comes up with the Forum page when I click on it. Anyone else had this??
  6. Jon (down in sunny Somerset) is actually my favourite character on Arbtalk and I always look out for his posts. He has given me some very good advice in pms which has helped me grow my business.
  7. Err, I would expect from our advertisments n the Firewood Directory. I to was surprised by everyones negativity about this e mail.
  8. Still mad here... delivered a load today and asked where they had heard about me and she pointed across the road and said you delivered there and they recommended you and then I remembered that I had been recommended to them by a previous customer...I have even cut down on my advertising to try and slow it down a bit.
  9. I tend to steer my oak towards people burning with coal assuming that this will create a good base to get it burning.
  10. What is the MAXIMUM moisture content you feel comfortable to describe as seasoned ( and all the people that have just started to type `well I only sell my barn 5 year stored seasoned ash at 12%` SAVE IT)
  11. Mad mad mad just moving into my second year and sales going mad.
  12. No, the pallets on the bottom of the cages allow the air to flow. They season brilliantly.
  13. I hope this link works http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/firewood-forum/31679-show-us-your-log-store-post516063.html#post516063 its now full with 87 IBC cages
  14. I bought a £20 rally jacket for £500 as I had just been presented with a prize cheque for £1000.
  15. And did you have violins playing in the background Steve
  16. Flat out at the moment. Very busy. At the point where I slump when the phone rings thinking oh no not another one.
  17. You have certainly not wasted your money. Barrow Bags are the only option for many smaller houses installing stoves.
  18. I only sell in Barrow Bags and customers love them but I really cant see how you could store your logs in them to season in any great volume. I use the non vented ones.
  19. I have one lit at night every night of the year apart from about two months in summer. Big old house that faces in the wrong direction. Got two stoves at the moment and will soon be installing a third and also taking out a gas fire to re-install an open fire. That will be four lovely wood burning fires to keep us warm
  20. I ask every single customer the maximum size of log that their stove will take and keep a record on my database. I then ensure that there is nothing bigger on their delivery. The more I sell logs the more I think they should be £120 a cube for all the work involved.
  21. You need to factor into these figures that Steve is a pessimist of the highest degree
  22. :congrats:I have been meaning to make the same point. I store my logs in IBC cages stacked three high in a dutch barn and the wind whistles through them and drys them out a treat all year round.
  23. Yes I can see that pretty soon all the wood that I have in the field will be inaccessible till we get a hard frost. It turns from hard ground to mud at the click of a finger.
