  2. its only a baby(would be one branch off last one) but i might have one coming up well worth a mill daniel oak this time
  3. i would second that IF it will go and oil looks clean £500 tops.
  4. awsome vid done old school. Bet it took longer to set the camera up in the tree to the left than it it took to do the job.
  5. so true for most family run farms. Bigger outfits seem to call the professionals more these days but they sub out a lot of the work that used to be done in house but employ less full time staff. I like calls from farmers as they usually difficult or huge otherwise they would have just done it themselves also tractors and telehandlers are usually available if needed.
  6. fell during first 2 weeks of december and advertise oversize large lets say 8ft to 25ft trees for sale. you will be surprised how much demand there is at these sizes and astonished at the cost of purchasing trees this size for xmas. We then fell and cut them to the size required.
  7. To be honest i couldnt hear anything there was sirens flashing lights and my hearing aint that good at best of times and it happened in seconds. I understand they are doing a job and imo a little overkill is better than no action at all.
  8. With hindsight dragged was probably not the correct term. They had us out and up the sides in seconds, then put gloves on before searching us and vehicle.
  9. To be fair we were not roughed up just very firmly handled.
  10. Me too so no idea, but my adopted sister is younger and i have 1 boy and 1 girl/young lady:001_smile:
  11. yes bugger all when you really need them and OTT when you dont! Scrap metal theft seems to be the current priority
  12. Someone must have reported the van as suspicious. They thought we were caravan dwellers and were out stealing and expected more than just woodchip on the back which i can understand as it was fairly late sat night, raining and metal theft is rife around here.
  13. 8pm just settling down for the night and the phone rings, one very distressed cat owner. Went missing thursday just found her but fire brigade will not come out nor will rspca help so being a bit soft we put the waterproofs on and headed out (hour drive) Cat was at the top of fair sized ash tree so we did the business rescued the cat (20 min including chat) and headed home. Next thing blue lights from all directions, 6 police officers we are boxed in and dragged out of truck, asked what we are doing "just rescuing a cat officer" they just laughed and said "what you really doing ?" then we got searched and breathalysed. Eventually i got one to listen and get the job card out the truck, he rang the customer who fortunately told them how amazing we were and we had just saved her beloved cat. Then he came back over and relayed that our story had just checked out. The face of every officer present was priceless. Keys returned and on our way home......
  14. sounds promising i just purchased A530 but will not get to test it till friday
  15. would really appreciate any advice. i have had a knife shatter and it has bent the pocket and the bolt quite badly. it is on an old jensen a521di that otherwise runs very well for its age. jensen can supply a new flywheel at an (unbelievable, dare you to guess) uneconomical price. i understand that i need to get it rebalanced if i attempt a repair. Has anyone done similar and did the repairs work long term. does anyone have a "scrapyard for woodchippers" the flywheel is same on all 6" jensen chippers i think. Regards Andy
  16. A good contender for an idiots guide to tree killing. Only takes 10 years. I was called to look at an oak tree last year that had 2 large cavities of dead wood fairly square shaped. Upon closer inspection the bark was dead on the 3rd side and pulled off to reveal another square shaped cavity. Due to the trees' location i did relevant app to fell as tpo'd When we were on site one of the elderly neighbours came over and said "you never guess what happened to that tree, the previous owner, ten years earlier, an electronics type guy rewired the timer on his microwave and strapped it onto the three sides accessible from his property for at least a week each maybe 2.
