  1. Rob D I agree the benches are excellent as was the other of Muttley's product, see below, we covered this show last year and although smaller we had a complete line of spectators around the fence every time we made a noise, from the 2nd picture the show was open! last year constant enquiries, although a bit random, as in can the stump grinder lay cable! and more interest in the sawdust than any other thing, I had 1 mature student that I gave a small burr to and that was the only contact re work produce all day!
  2. Almost a mini Arbtalk meeting this day 7th Sept. as a result of conversations on Arbtalk led me to contact muttley9050 James to see if he would be interested in attending the above show with the idea of manufacturing something with the product from our mobile saw mill, I must to admit to being impressed with RobD’s bench or more at shows in the past and asked James if he would like to join us for the day showcasing some of his product whilst making a bench or similar. We parked in the centre of the site in Campbell Park and set up shop joined by members of the Parks Trust direct labour to include WoodEd and their impressive collection of equipment, with a back drop of Milton Keynes theatre we milled a small Oak log to produce board that James used to make his picnic benches I am impressed with his work. Although forecasted as bad the day remained dry with dramatic cloudscape and the rain held off until the heavens opened just as we prepared to pack up at the end of the day, hopefully the photos will tell the story better than words

  6. very good question, how much do they charge?, per day, tonne, cube meter, blade damage, price any one got a price, lots of variables how hard or soft wet or dry the wood is, how easy it is to load into chipper, where the chip has go to be placed

Respect
  10. log grabs will dig more dirt, you will get less with brash grab but this will not be completely clean if feeding chipper brash grab will be better/ cleaner, in my experience you will always get some dirt or worse! when feeding chipper with crane, some are less rounded and hold less timber check out the capacity and compare, saw these at elmia this year, good luck

  16. most excellent production, superb carving, my opinion on estate agents almost changed!, a brilliant commission produced by what would have been winning carving at any of the carving events, just love the accidental and background visitors in the vid, good mood with the movement of the sun and shadows leading to the lighting of finished master piece. respect

  21. I suppose if you have a lot of sizable trees you may need a felling licence , I think over 5m3 in a quarter of a year. If they have planning permission to develop that usually allows the clearance, See Forestry Commission Felling Licence http://www.forestry.gov.uk/forestry/infd-6dfk86
