  1. Hi Steve, have you a recommendation for a browser? thanks
  2. Hi I get white screen when trying view vids. Cheers
  3. I use this technique as well. Apples/ornamentals, Gleditsia, Tilia etc.If I can just tear them or hammer them off if more force is needed. Removing the entire area is aggressive but they seem to respond well to it.
  4. Heree is what I had for a Dakota and what I jusst installed on my dodge 2500. Slide in sides was awesome. It served as trailer sides, ramps and a/c protectors etc. Moved the sides now permanently to thelandscape tipper. So far I love having access from the sides more so than the tailgate. Hope this helps. Cheers
  5. Missed one. Yoyo between the two.
  6. Why do Leprechauns laugh when they run. The grass tickles their balls.
  7. Hang out for while at your limit and push yourself to try for another meter or more. Take your time and till yourself to enjoy it.
  8. True but it is not as simple as that. Getting to and fine tuning your position to safely do the work is the real test. Pruning trees is my primary work. Mostly reductions of large spreading deciduous is my esperience. I prune before remove as some of you know by my videos. Novice should learn the why , when and where and what of climbing. My trainees have all preferred DRt for work positioning they felt safer for a number of reasons. Less gear and maintains the feet or legs for secure foot holds. We all love Srt for its effeciencies and will yoyo between them. Now we use Lj and Sj with ropeguid or Secret weapon. The point is it will depend on the tree and work being performed. Removal, puning, reductions/hazard prune, single or multi-stemmed, specific tree habit etc. Blanket statements close doors, keep your options open, the only limits that should be set for a novice is crawl, walk then run . Hybrid term for the two systems? How about S/Dt Single/Double Rope system or Super Duper Systm SDT Srt turns instantly to a drt when you pull your slack thruough the pulley/slack tender back in the direction of your tip. See what I mean?
  9. To many variables to consider like is the tree being climbed or is it the rope being climbed, is it horizontal progression or vertical progression etc etc. Yes if they have the strength and depending on the climb and work being performed. No if the do not have the strength and depending on the climb and work being performed. Drt
  10. I went through full rotations of pain from elbows to shoulders to finally all aching at once. I avoid doctors, drugs and the hospital at all costs. I struggled and worked through all the pain, changed my diet and focused on specific work movements and working with effecient body movements utilizing the largest muscles as much as possible. Long story short; eat well, focus and use the best tools and techniques and maintain everything near to spec and hopefully all will be well. The body is a machine and requires fluids. Water is crucial. Keep hydrated. At 45, I am the principle climber for the last few years in my company and have only experienced some minor flare ups. Mostly from forcing to get in or out of position. check out Arbclimber magazine. I wrote an article with the help of a Kinisielogy graduate. Be you a young rival or veteran there is something to learn in this issue.

  12. Frozen ropes will wear prematurely. Ice is abrasive. Keep them dry or switch to dry ropes. I recall seeing this in Maximum Arrest Force training manual and alsoOn Rope by Smith and Padgett. Hope this helps. I love winter work but my finger tips don't. I lube my hands up with an utter cream pre-climbs. This works well and is based on the same idea as your english channel swimmers greasing up with vaseline or some sort of petroleum jelly to create a barrier. This also works well to keep the pitch from binding to your hands. Easy clean up.
  13. I have done full days of Jack pine removals and know the experience with rope resined up with rope resined up is worse than with Sj resined up on rope resined up. See what I mean?
  14. I was taught. Liquid dish soap, definitely no chlorine and the key is always use front load wash machine. Worked well for me.
  15. I ropewrench and SJ. Pretty comfy with it all but still YoYo between Srt and Drt. I Ascend with a sternal , hand and foot ascenders and then go to work on my Wrench and Sj. Its all good imho
  16. Being able to eat and drink as much as I want and what ever I want. Big swings are cool! like flying.
  17. You make a great point Albedo. I also practice with chaninsaw in hand to mimic the cut. Similar to stepping off a penatlty goal. The point of this is to adjust your position to compensate for the shift in centre of balance when operating the saw thru to completion of the cut. Remember a chainsaw at arms length will add approximately 100lbs to the levers end. Thumb on the shut off as always and at the ready if slip or gaff out or rotation occurs. Everyone has a climbing style a tend towards the sloth it is a bit slower but predictable. Slow and steady wins the race, haste makes waste and perfect practice makes perfect. Making the pay cheque well into our future is what needs to be considered over the pay cheque from the day.
  18. I like the idea of turning your ashes into a diamond. I hear the process costs thousands and thousands and the more cobalt in your system the bluer the diamond.
