  1. Put em on backwards and turn your saw into a digger to clear the debris away for the stump cut! I have done it plenty of times and the only issue I see the grit wearing things a bit more quickly.
  2. :idea:I see that in theory it would be easy to repair cut strands in a rope by inserting a new strand that sufficiently bypasses the compromised area in both directions. essentially splicing new strands. What do you think? Just an idea wondering if anyone has tried this?
  3. Will my eldest made that for me. Loves to draw especially anime.
  4. I truly believe the key to a good throw is to exhale on the release and focus a few feet above your target. My BS snapped two weeks ago and I am back to hand throwing. I have hit many many amazing shots through some serious storm damage trees here in the hardwoods of Southern Ontario recently. My most accurate and powerful shots are the Longgun Technique with two hands and I find I am as accurate and mb slightly better than a BS, except when it comes time to blast through tons of bits to get into the crown. I did get stuck the other day on a sprout turned back onto the trunk and with a half wrap. Took a bit of effort but managed to snap the sprout off and retrieve. Technically 1/2 RK stuck and 1/2 throwline wrapped up. Cheers and glad to hear your Brass wt is helping. Brass wt almost seems like it adds a bit of wizadry to the throw or mb its just that it is golden in appearance. Cheers and thanks for showing others the way forward.
  5. if its in darkness it will die. Light is the key limiting factor besides air and water. Air and water can also be controlled but would require more effort. Girdling is good control but most times with willow would require atleast 2 or three more attempts at desprouting. Cheers
  6. Decide what is the best for you in your price range that you will be able to get serviced easily. Then wait for the off season when it will most likely be on sale. Or wait for the off season entirely and get better than you need and be happy. Cheers Service and Guarantee is king in my book.
  7. A smooth radiused sword for piercing crowns and Shield to deflect.
  8. My 1st saw, 034, its cooked real good.
  9. Exclude the light equals no growth. Tarp it and lash it down.
  10. Marcus, I extend to you my personal invitation to visit us in Canada. Play, Work, throw, rec climb etc. A chance to spend some time in Southern Ontario. largest river, near the Great Lakes, transition zone maple/beech and Hickory/oaks, Niagara Falls etc. I don't really care about the competition just proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with you in fight against the use of toxic Lead(Pb) in our industry. Cheers
  11. Another one of my interesting ideas taken from the page of smooth and easy. Throw off? Our knights against pods wouldn't be remotely interesting. Akin to sports car vs go cart.
  12. Marcus, please realize the truth in my words.
  13. Words lost in translation or the failure to communicate in the appropriate local language is by no means "name calling". Completely unintentional. Cheers One mans luxury is anothers necessity. Its a tool with multiple purposes and is deserving of a more thorough analysis.
  14. I know where you are coming from. I do mostly crown reductions and hazard prunes, out on the tips. Srt for ascent and descent, work climb is mostly drt but some times I am forced to transition between the two because of drt friction is too great with the rope against limbs. Srt is really drt in disguise any way because you end up tending and pulling yourself in 2:1 fashion sometimes. Either way I keep my RW at the ready and many times it is the principle in conjuction with my Lj or Sj. There will be a few aha moments yet to come.
  15. Ring obtrusive Smaller ring, snap, maillon or whatever less obtrusive RopeKnight smooth and easy. This means no ring or attachment point. Ropeknight recieves the line at the nose cone. RopeKnight with FastAttach for longGun Technique moderately obtrusive because of the optional accessory that utilizes a ring or whatever you wish to use. We only suggest FastAttach for those who refuse to let go of their traditional ring. Many Arbclimbers using the RopeKnight go smooth and easy sans ring, we know the best and smoothest and easiest is to do an internal connection/knotless. I should also explain that practiced hands can secure and free their line as fast as tieing and untieing knots. Either way what ever you prefer just throwing my best at you to ponder. I am knot saying my way is the best, it is the best for me as a self employed arbclimber in Canada. Cheers Knotless connection with no ring to jam you up! BTw this is a pic of the 2nd and 3rd in its development, we added another radius to smooth over.
  16. LongGun Technique is a just that, a technique. Use whatever you like or is handy that the line can be applied to. Ring, clip, shackle, snap, maillon rapide, bone from your nose etc. your choice. The point is the ring is familiar, mimics the traditional ring and bag and is helping arbclimbers win the battle to get in the tree quickly and more accurately. Basically a mash up of one and two hand technique. Here is the pic. If you haven't tried this you should!
  17. Rubber mixed with metal is still hard. We provide soft protectors than are the safest for use in the industry. A ring is obtrusive this point is inarguable. Sorry I can't explain this more completely. The stroking comment is meant in good fun. My apologies if it comes off badly.
  18. It is science based Marcus. Rings are obtrusive with much more surface area to apply friction Rubber has a high coefficient of friction thus its use in tires and the like. Can't help you with the ring but apply your choice of Lubricant to the rubber and slip and slide away. Your clients may wonder why you stroke your black thingy so lovingly though:001_tongue:
  19. Sorry, it is RopeKnight. Obviously you know knot of the Ropeknight or of its value. Apples to apples? Choices are a bag,a pod, ball and the RopeKnight/RopeShield a multipurpose rope access tool, 6 tools in one and guaranteed for life. Compare bags, balls, throwpods to this https://www.facebook.com/pages/RopeArmour/113201298749998 http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/general-chat/57472-ropearmor-ropeknight-ultimate-throw-weight-4.html Cheers
  20. Haven't used mine for months and definitely don't miss it.
  21. A pic of a limb before pruned and after may be good alternative to the whole tree pic before and after. I ahve a few before and after reduction whole tree pics and never posted because they just did absolutely nothing for comparison. The vid of the in crown showing the prune is probabley the best for an honest review imho Cheers
