  1. Sending my Hilux in this week for a tipper conversion 2 cu metre with divider 500mm sides
  2. Depends on the size of the tonne bag. 800x800x800 = approx 1/2 cu metre so £90 a cube is good money. The whole tonne bag idea is great for getting the deserved amount of money out of people with out them realising. I need to get into tonne bags:thumbup1:
  3. And factor in the speedo inaccuracy when calculating your new mpg
  4. Kindling and fire lighters a good way to go. low effort good profit. Logs = large turn over large effort little profit.
  5. If its a defender calipers remade are £40 ea. put new ones on and forget for another 6 years. Not really worth picking about with all the salt on the roads. I tried cleaning some rare ones up, once you have increased the bore size with emery they tend to jam in the bore.
  6. I would like to supply you but 80 bags on a pallet is going to cost £67 for delivery alone.
  7. I had a navarra and half the trailers in the yard towed really badly behind it. Went back to coil sprung disco in the end. Ebay is full of people trying to buy stuff with out viewing and then claiming a refund afterwards when its not the bargain of the century they hoped it would be. Other sellers are getting rid of junk and poor quality new stuff. Now well worth avoiding in my opinion.
  8. If you annoy them you become thier victim. Something for them to play with to pass the time. I talk right over them give them a firm NO THANKS and hang up. That annoys them as they have paid for the call. If you want a bit of fun try ( thanks for calling the sales line I will take your order starting with the long no on your credit card )
  9. Sometimes if you take out an advert somewhere you get put on a mug list. They pass it round all their sister companies.
  10. I am about to get an ally tipper fitted to the hilux. Problem here may be the hilux is rated to tow 2 tonne so is over the 3.5 tonne.
  11. I have been looking for a body for a hilux 8x5 if you come across one . I have been scanning ebay for a few weeks and sure I see one for a canter. You should get one all in for £300 - £500
  12. I dont think this legislation serves any purpose at all. It makes it more difficult for a small business to tow a trailer which keeps the haulage companies happy. If the authorities want to make the roads safer I would say make 7.5 tonne ownership easier for small businesses. A 3 tonne load on a small lorry is much safer than 3 tonne behind a 1950 throw back 4x4 marina ( sorry defender ). The tacho system on a 4x4 is so easy to get round if you were determined to break the law, it serves no purpose just more euro rules gone mad. Its easy to preach when someone else picks up the bill. Its a shame we feel the need to penalise small business in this country, all most people are trying to do is earn a living feed the kids and pay the bills. The people we should crack down on are the dole fiddlers and criminals but then they are not such and easy target are they.
  13. If you are going to Orchard hill they arnt near Clatford anymore think they moved to king sombourne
  14. Most places that sell trailers will make them with out any docs but they will be stick ons. Which I think are still legal on trailers ( i hope as I have about 30 )
  15. In 18 years I think I wasted about 8k on advertising. I spent £200 wisely in £30 chunks and took advantage of free one liners. Moral is dont do it and if you do monitor it closely so you dont do it again.
  16. It does not matter how many people sell firewood in your area. Are they filling the demand, could you fill a gap ie ( seasoned ) If you start this winter part time you wont have all yours eggs in one basket and will have a better feel for the business the following year. Small business makes small mistakes easy to learn from. I wish anyone who is prepared to graft luck with their venture
  17. I have a sheppach ox 9 . Mega bit of kit with the auto return. I would imagine far more efficent and safe than I could design and build in a 100 years. You may be able to work out which valve is fitted from their parts list. The auto cuts the time in half because as you pick up the next ring its ready to go again. I can split rings and load truck nearly as quick as our hakki processor and the sheppach has never needed repair unlike the hakki.
  18. £145 for 2 cu last winter . Cordwood has gone up at least £4 a tonne so far if you can get it and diesel has gone up 15 p a litre so unless I charge £160 for 2 cu metres cant see the point in doing it. I would like to charge £100 a cu for 95% beech and its dry but I dont think the market round here would stand it especially with a recession on people dont have the money in their pocket. If we have a mild winter and price of fossil fuels stays low I would price my self out of the market.
  19. Poor gearbox in the petrol model dont tow with it. Ok if you just need a 4x4 cavalier.
  20. If you have some meat around the hole you could try a brass bsp plug. If you let me know the mm diametre of your sump plug I will try and have a look tommorrow. Is the sump steel or ally.
  21. Sorry forgot to put that on 50cm x 40cm
  22. Can supply kiln dried kindling through the summer for £1.25 + vat if anyone needs it. Will be a price increase next winter. Minimum order 50 bags for collection or I think pallet freight will be around £60.
  23. Before you cut into billets like this try a few through your processor. I found they dont hit the slitter at the right angle. Also when cutting down the grain a metre our beech would run off, one end would be 2" the other 12. I now ring it to 10" and split with vertical splitter I dont find it takes much longer than the processor. And the splitter dont break down either. Once its in to rings its easier for one man to handle.
