  1. If you get a hilux D4D it will be the best in the market on fuel 30-35mpg
  2. Free timber is hard to find. when the partimers have run out of timber in november leaves the market for people with processors. There is a huge demand for the right product the only thing that kills the market is idiots underpricing themselves. Everyone whole works in this country should be able to expect to earn a livable wage especially when supplying Bankers.
  3. From the research I have done if your wood processor bar jams half way or you cutting banana shapes its probably because the teeth have been sharpened differently one side to the other. Because we are left or right handed there is bound to be a difference. The grinder is ideal for addressing this problem just dont take to much off in one go as you will case harden the chain then hand sharpening will be very difficult.
  4. I am not keen on Mazdas and had some terrible fords in the past ( not bought any for 15 years ) Had some excellent toyotas cant fault them for reliability and build quality. Hilux Not always the best looking, least amount of extras, lowest power and 3k more than the rest with poor towing capacity but for me it would still be toyota all day long.
  5. And if you have the lift capacity there will be some 1.4 cu bags about in November
  6. I see some 1.4 cu metres at the apf show.
  7. I think it would be better if you could hit top speed as you near the bottom of the yard and deploy the bag like a parachute before carrying out a hand brake turn and returning to workshop with bag filled and a big grin on your face ( but i am on tin no 6 so this may not make sence in the morning )
  8. I think it might go on my dinasaur jcb 525 £4500.00 but even so £6500 to scrape up some logs best get down to songat.
  9. Some people and organisations will buy logs on line so they can use a credit card even if 2 cu costs £260.00
  10. Its going to take at least an hour so your hourly rate say £25-£30 at least 2 galls of fuel so £10. You should charge £45 to cover wear and tear so £25 would be a bargain. Bet you charge an extra tenner and regret it like I do ( once got caught in a jam for 3 hours )
  11. I think there was a thingy on ebay a couple of months ago. A bucket sort of thing with bag dragging behind when bucket full lift up and fills bag. looked good I lost interest at the 2k start price but they must be out there somewhere. try completed listings it may still be on there. Otherwise tip into a hopper but then you need a bucket and a forks. Cant win can you
  12. If you go the scaffold route I have a crate full of clamps brand new going cheap.
  13. Sounds interesting but I am working 6 1/2 days a week and dont get time to tidy up at the moment. Just keeping up with machine maintenance. So I dont want to start any more projects. Good luck with your search for material.
  14. Thats a shame could have done a bit of a trade for some brickettes
  15. Thats a shame could have done a bit of a trade for some brickettes
  16. We produce about a cubic metre of beech saw dust if we use our processor for a couple of hours. and we have bags of untanilised offcuts from kindling production are you far from Hampshire.
  17. Last year we did 6 double loads in september. This Sept about 30 double loads so demand has taken us by suprise. Looking to pack our large wood tent for the end of the winter. Looking for 8 wheeler loads or possibly if we can get an artic in larger 24 tonnes the more the better. Pm me if anyone can help I know its a bit of a long shot if anyone can help next summer would also be good.
  18. Glad to here it all panned out. Good luck with the sales. Most of our log deliveries go out with 3 bags of kindling. I normally show customers for future reference and alot buy on the spot.
  19. 12 - 18" beech ringed with chainsaw and split with hydraulic. 2 of us for 6 hrs 8cu metres. It takes 1 man 1.5 hrs to split and load my 2cu metre Toyota after its been ringed.
  20. Are you still talking about the rats:biggrin:
  21. Its also very early in the season and we are sending out huge amounts. Energy prices are increasing again. Should be good in January.
  22. Bit of both if the suns out I sometimes shut the doors. But try to avoid too much condensation on cloudy days with some wind open up. Amazing how quick it can work.
  23. Its a shame its not a bit earlier in the year as you may have been in with a chance. If you can find a pollytunnel in the sun and the weather is kind may still stand a chance otherwise its next year.
