  1. Postage??? what do you pay for 28kg 2-3 days service anywhere except highlands and islands we pay £6.00 Box at 50p-100 each plus liner strapping labels etc so we get around £7.50 per 28kg How much is that in your book per tonne eh? I am listing 1000kg at £289.00 currently Is this a friendly forum where people come together to learn from each other and support each other make a living? I posted on here to hopefully buy what others are throwing away to the benefit of all including the disabled and disadvantaged people who get support from the project.
  2. As i previously said we are more than happy to pay for sawdust we just hav'nt had to before because most sawdust waste is ungraded and not the core business of the joinery works it comes from. I have been working with briquettes for a little while now and if a realistic price was £500 a tonne we would be very happy indeed! You can purchase a tonne delivered for around £280.00 from a number of reliable places. Some garages do sell for £5.00 a 10kg bag but sell little and we sure dont get that much. As for the blade sharpening issue we have not had a problem so far as the boards are roughly cleaned before we get them. The company grading them to see if they are ok to go back on site or are scrapped have to do a rough clean to check for splits. When we get going in much greater quantities we may have an issue. It is definately something to think about. As for g30 wood chip it would still deed to go through a hammer mill or granulator if my understanding of the spec is correct as it can have particles up to 16mm in it? we use 8-10 max. As a premium product i imagine its value is not too dissimilar to our wholesale price so unfortunately too expensive. I am perhaps looking for the waste from a smaller operation at a fair price? I have seen posts from people on here discussing spreading it on the fields to get rid of it.
  3. Thanks for the replies We have never yet paid for sawdust as we have always had it free to help clear joiners when they are paying to get rid of it. But we are more than willing to pay for the right stuff we have just never found anyone selling the right stuff at the right price. Very high quality dust extracted guaranteed particle size is easy to come by but is far to expensive for us! What have you got ?
  4. Hi I am an urban timber hugger and social entrepreneur supporting disabled people to work using parks and wood. Would love to do tree work but knackered back wont allow.
  5. The Urban Timber company "me and the guys from our resource center!) are 6 months into our wood based social enterprise. So a newbie on here and just learning about the wood business so all help gratefully received. We are looking for a regular supply of sawdust in the Rochdale, Oldham Manchester area. We can clear your yard!!! We can take some sawdust from green wood and some from seasoned or kiln dried but couldn't cope with lots of wet only as we cannot dry it. We make briquettes and are hoping to make kindling when we can find a second hand machine that will take the 10,000 scaffolding boards we have!!!
