  1. I dont push that sort of volume through our 2x but have fitted gates belts about 3 years ago and still going strong and they dont stretch after the initial 50 hrs. You may need to think about less grease if you over grease bearings they over heat. I am really bad for not greaseing more of a every few months job but cant remember the last bearing I lost on anything around the yard.
  2. I have always considered my unique selling point my tipper. If I stacked all my loads on a Saturday I would deliver 4-5 but tipping I get 8 double loads out. I have worked my costs out based on this. Why would I give up £3-£400 turnover to stack logs. We do have a few frail customers who we stack for free. I think if you sit in an office block and drive a new range rover it keeps you in touch with reality and helps build confidence in a team enviroment.
  3. Yeah we get a queue of them normally 4pm christmas eve
  4. If you only have half a dozen fires a year and too lazy to put a tipped load away and you have just got a bonus of £160,000 from Barclays its a bargain.
  5. They need to see some of our beech from green cordwood to 25% in four months cut to logs and left in the sun through the summer. Or should I just stick it in an oven for 1/2 hr
  6. Did the seller run out of fingers I bought one of these but never had the courage to use it and sold it without even running it up.
  7. after the third one I gave up and bought a hilux
  8. I dont want you to know my first name oops
  9. aahhhh memories from last winter. luckily it will be frozen soon so no running water. The cab heaters dont work so no melting either.
  10. Thanks for the info. The other thing that concerned me was who repairs the lines and at what cost. We have in the last few years had 3 faults on the lines, all BT equipment but on all occasions Bt will refuse to come out unless you agree to a charge of £50 an hour. This applies to business and residential lines. The engineers are under pressure to make sure it is a chargeable call out. To cut a long story short on each occassion a bit of a punch up which we won. What worries me is how much grief could you get from these new wholesale companies.
  11. Been approached by a company called advantage. Line rental is half standard Bt and calls cost 80% less. You keep your standard bt line and phone nos. BT open reach are part of bt but seperate ? . Anyone had any experience sounds too good to be true so probably is .
  12. impressed . If you keep an eye out for a small hiab the extra reach would mean you could tow a trailer and take 5 bags in good weather.
  13. wet wood is wet. Dry wood is dry. Dont need to complicate it really or write a 20 page report. Wet wood is bad news just buy your wood in the spring or before.
  14. I use the ones with the grippy rubber palm and woolly back. Normally £1.20 but arco had a deal on for 30p so cleared them out. I keep loads about after an hour or two dry them in the cab grab some more. We do alot of processing and this is very hard on gloves even the best quality will only last a few days.
  15. Good truck ideal for log deliveries time for mud tyres soon
  16. Hope its not owned by an arb talk member:blushing: Quick change the subject pic of our hilux
  17. sometimes people are typing as other posts appear
  18. would be ok for firewood better in a stove as it splits. I believe it makes kindling. Would be ideal if you go for a kindlett as you could process into 6.5 in lengths and feed straight in. Chestnut would know more than me could be along soon.
  19. Especially with three subbies in the back and tonne of chip. And just to make sure a 3.5 tonne ram and power pack mounted behind the rear wheel.
  20. Who are take that a band from the 60's:lol:
  21. That truck would be a disaster full of wet logs. Look at the overhang at the back . when we had our hilux converted the bodybuilder new there was a technical limit for the overhang and advised not to go past it. In one of the pictures it actually looks like he has a trailer on the back.
