  1. The ms230 is a forestry saw which I use all the time for logging and occassionaly get the ms390 out for bigger stuff. The ms390 is a lower spec saw for lighter use around the farm.
  2. I think elder and alder get mixed up. I dont think elder burns well
  3. I never had the time but I would rub the sills down and try white flat hammerite. Underneath you need something with a bit more staying power than waxoyle. That stuff seems to just wash off. I need to find something for our 110 tipper I think there is a product that is black and waxy. Avoid anything that dries with a bitumin look as it will seal in the rust and water.
  4. My next door neigbour makes them what sort of quantities are you talking
  5. Mine was a new shape alot more rust than yours. I think merc made some in spain and dropped their game with the new model made them from poor quality steel. I think another two years and mine would be failing the mot. Even the roof was rusting excellent van otherwise.
  6. Its got timing chain just sold my 04 plate 115 duo liner with 140k on clock for £4700 so yours sound a bargain. I recon only van on road worth having. Hold the rust back or yours will end up like mine. Dont know why mine rusted the garage washed it during its yearly service
  7. I am sure a company called industrial engines are up north. They advertise in ex and mart. Have had dealings very good any make of engine
  8. I dont think there will be shortage of wood. There may be a shortage of fools like us processing. I bet there is few businesses that invest 50% of their turnover in raw material 9 months before they have a hope of seeing any money. Someone once told me the bulk log business was delivering the unprofitable for the ungrateful.
  9. Is there one in the country let alone in Devon ?
  10. Dean, wont be long before we will need a tacho on our crappers. That way vosa will know if your working one out or just resting and of course you will start with a clean sheet and finish with paper work properly filled out.
  11. I tow the trailer in my avatar for servicing large generators. The vehicle gross is 3 tonne and trailer 3.5 tonne so combined 6.5 tonne. I dont tow more than 50 km and to my knowledge allows exemption. If you ask vosa for the rules chapter and verse they will tell you to interpret yourself and if you get it wrong it will be up to the courts to decide. The rules are now so complex and unclear and contadictory the purpose they serve is for knowalls to sit and smuggly tell the rest of the world they cant carry on about their business. None of this will matter soon as we will all be employed by a commi government to sit around and learn about health and safety. from an erogonmically designed chair at a desk with round edges.
  12. I am probably out of date on this but my understanding was you only need to use the tacho when actually towing. So officer I have not towed anything for at least the last 28 days. The 28 day bit I think is only for 7.5 tonne hgv's . But all this could have changed in the last few years. But I cant imagine anyone putting a disc in a tacho in a transit so they can go down the road for a pint of milk ?
  13. Unfortunately this stupid regulation would not have stopped him watching the internet all night. You could put a graph in drive 8 hrs then chuck it over you shoulder and put another in or swap vehicles. As i understand they dont need to be kept or sent off just in the tacho if you get pulled over ?
  14. Washing up bowl. Would have stretched to a new iron but they are heavy and she threw the last one at me:lol:
  15. If its got a dual mass flywheel they are not as durable as a solid flywheel and they cost a bomb. They pack up really easily even without towing.
  16. If you are going on soft ground or want to deliver logs in the snow get a 110 tipper. I bought a 1986 110 tipper with 9 months mot 6 months tax for £1000 used it hard now for 7 months not really had to put a spanner to it yet. Expect to spend some money now though for MOT
  17. You may find when the soil drys out you dont need the pallets. i find the pallets a pain and ankle breakers especially when you get some bark about the place. I love the shed I need something like that for our kindlett. If you keep the roof low do you not need planning permission ? .
  18. Have u tried selling bags with random kindling in. I tried but our customers prefer the nice neatly packed bags.
  19. I am looking for a supply of long timber rejects if anyone knows of any in the south I would be interested. I have short pieces of planed construction timber but as someone said it takes an hour to prepare for one hour of kinlet use . I may try a 17 tonne load of douglas fir but have a feeling the bark may be a problem. If you use construction off cuts u need to make sure it is not stamped or showing a green hue as this has been treated with preservative and cant be used. The quickest way I can see is to cut it with a wood processor without the splitter. selling kindling wholesale looks a con from what I can see you have to pay for thier bags up front then wait for them to pay the invoice ? . If I run out of work and there are no paper rounds I may try and sell wholesale.
  20. They come up on ebay all the time £150 - £400 new skin from visqueen about £150 - £250 depending on size.
  21. I think a better fitting weather proof cover would help.
  22. Hi

Are you busy on logs at the moment. Considering the weather we are quiet. I think not doing any advertising this year may have something to do with it. We did not get the volume of timber processed in the summer so let the adverts ride. I have about 15 tonnes left. I must come out and see you soon.

  23. try LS Uk for solinoids should be about £20 > you need one rated for a winch this will be ott but better. LS may be called delphi now they were lucas but went bust. For pumps and motors best place is harrier you will find them easy on ebay. They stock the exact make of pump as original about half the price of Ifor. Harrier are good for all hydraulic power packs and engine driven as well. The motors are prone to getting a little water which lays in the bottom brush and it seizes up sometimes if you strip you can clean and repair. I did run my pump with just 2 of the 4 brushes for months then it gave up so I bought complete as new pump and motor off ebay for £40. Sorry for long post makes a change to reply about something I know about.

People also dont tend to stop now because of the sueing culture. If you administer first aid and the relatives think you made them worse how do you stand. This is not going to sound very public spirited but I know someone who is a paramedic if you arrive at an accident and someone is wondering around, dont put them in your vehicle. When the emergency servs turn up they will ask casualty any pain? . If they say their back hurts the fire brigade will cut your roof off to get them out on a board and your insurance wont pay out Happens all the time.
