  1. Its finished and ready for collection a friend is going to collect and run it down when he gets a minute. No more pics yet itching to get my hands on it and have a play
  2. Not me selling but thought may be ideal for log bodies or trailers so worth a mention ebay no 370480688873
  3. Where do your other talents lie dave.
  4. This is what I thought. The price difference between red and white is getting narrower. Soon it will be cheaper to run on white.
  5. I have heard this before. It makes sense and have gone with it. Use 50:1 and make sure the fuel is fresh and freshly mixed. If you leave some mixed on the shelf for a few weeks I think u can cause problems.
  6. How much would a chipper like that weigh because the single cab hilux is only good for 700kg and you need to take driver and passenger out of that.
  7. What happened to mr Ed . I noticed everyone was talking about the possible recession
  8. The ten foots are bulky for delivering firewood up driveways. The tp85 is just wide enough to see when reversing and follows disco nicely. I would cage and go up. Light to tow when empty aswell.
  9. Should have my trailer back in a few days. will get some better pics. I bought a brick trailer for about 2k and had the front cut off could be the way for u to go. Hope all in should be 6k with air and hyd brakes. Trailer and crane were very tidy and rated 10 tonne at metre.
  10. No evidence, No body I am thinking smoke screen what are the politcians up to now. When they are up to something they create a distraction. Will diesel be £2 a litre in the morning.
  11. If he has his own expenses and provides some or all of tools required and works less than 60% of his time for you he is self employed. Lets face it you get a slap on the wrist for rape and murder in this country. So employing someone in a grey area or running your tractor on red for an hour when it should white is unlikely to be a hanging offence.
  12. If you check into a hotel they often swipe your credit card. I reckon if you did a bunk they would take the money. Have you noticed if you go to a crap plastic pub they take the money up front for food How do I know if its good enough before I have eaten it.
  13. If it was closer I would be on my way but Hampshire to cheshire at 15mph would kill the job. If any one has large take downs near Andover I will be able to collect soon and 2ft stems up to 3 tonne will not be a problem. Save you ringing up:thumbup1:
  14. I used to have this problem supplying large gensets to large customers. The set would cost 20k and the margin would be £2000. They were not prepared to pay for the set upfront, I was not prepared to wait 5 months for my money on the off chance they were still in business. What we used to do is charge 75% of the total quote which included the installation. This would be due when the set was offloaded and a cheque due that day. This would cover the material element of the job. With the credit crunch no one has any money and cant borrow so thats the end of installing gensets hence we spend time producing logs. We get a cheque the day they are off loaded. We have alot of service agreements and have noticed companies taking longer and longer to pay up.
  15. I remember looking into a hiab on a mog. I think the chassis has to be built to allow the mog to flex otherwise you start breaking things. A hiab of a brick trailer may be ok not sure yet if they are fast enough. Timber cranes tend to be fast but dont pick up so much weight.
  16. The latest trend I have come across is customer pretends to be clueless about cu metres so you show them the truck and offer free delivery. However customer would prefer to bring their own trailer to fill for £40 like old joe used to, no doubt when leaving will look like an egyption pyramid:sneaky2:
  17. Steady on 6 years and I will be 50 all this talk of pensions. I am a mere spring chicken only just got through puberty
  18. What do you use to pressure check the crank case ?
  19. The forwarder did not read well especially for ebay. I need a large grab for a 10 tonne metre crane but that looks very old.
  20. would have got the message across to the masses if it was a paragraph rather than droneing on for 5 pages
  21. You need to satisfy yourself they are paying their tax because the the tax office will get it off you, if they dont. Everyone is responsible for h&S if you have less than 5 employees you dont need so much documentation but u still need to have taken steps to ensure safe practice. If you write it down and give training it proves it.
  22. Dave I did not realise you had reach the turn over to justify someone full time on the cards. I have about 6 self employed people who come from all walks of life. Common sense and safety come first output second. With six contacts you can normally get 2-3 people per day when busy. I find if people do days of processing they loose interest and get fatigued.
  23. Micheldever tyres in Hampshire had them this week.
  24. We have a 2x which is 9 years old and had a full life before we got it 5 years ago. we also use it to prep 6" timber for the kindlet it gets a real dogs life but just keeps going. We are wearing the handles off where the roll pin goes through. Drive belts are a weak point but cheap to replace and fault fault find. All runs on the kis principal (keep it simple )
  25. I have been doing a little bit of home work on this. Apparently fast tracks ok when new get a bad one with a few years under its belt and life becomes hell especially gearbox problems. I would imagine a tractor is better if you need to hitch up alot of different trailers as you can see the hitch. Unimog well made less electronics better for passengers.
