  1. Forgot to mention I think JCB telehandlers were recommending the use of waxoyl instead of grease a few years ago.
  2. I would say thats either a design flaw or its done more than 300 hrs. Looks like the pad came off early in its life. They look like good little loaders seen them at the apf a few times. Does yours skid or is it arctic steer.
  3. Could collect with this if it makes the cutting easier for u
  4. They are made by carlton normally £11 they were having a clear out. May still be doing so, excellent company for mower spares by mail. Called central spares I think based in dorset. The chains last me months. About half way through sharpening they start to jam and cut banana shape so I need to get them on a bench grinder to even up my poor hand sharpening which used to cost me £5 now I just chuck them. Central sent me some free chains recently to review and I have found they run for a good 10hrs before I need to true them up then they are easy to hand sharpen. I assume they are chinese but so far as good as oregon or stihl. I dont pay much for chains if you hit some metal they are toasted or you forget to but the bar oil on
  5. I have a hakki pilki 2x now 10 years old its had alot of new parts but then its done alot of work most parts are not to expensive and its easy to work on. I have recently bought 30 chains at £2.76 ea if I get some cord in thats a bit dirty I dont worry about the chains but if I had a nice new tct blade and trashed it would I have a spare ?. The biggest advantage to me of chain is much quieter or at least less annoying to the neighbours.
  6. Just because a machine is heavy does not mean its better made. Cordwood is not getting any smaller 37cm I would say is a minimum.
  7. He values his car more than his life its got more protection than he has. With cycle clips those trousers would hold the blood in better.
  8. Its turning half the wood into kindling. What happens when it gets near the end of the log looks like it drops a 2 ft length on the floor. Would be ok if you want big logs and dont mind alot of trash the cord needs to be long as possible with 8ft lengths alot of off cuts to deal with.
  9. The bigger tractors are cheaper to buy and so are the parts. Also being bigger more robust.
  10. One of my kindling customers supplies a chain of 25 pubs. They specify dry softwood because its easy to light and creates lots of flame for effect. Occasional spitting and popping is good because it reminds the customers they are sitting near a real fire and all adds to the effect.
  11. I would think pubs would be ideal for it as there customers like putting it on. If its expensive hardwood a pain but cheap softwood they can fill their boots.
  12. I have done it for a couple of years. Nice straight 8" stuff £35 a cube ringed chunky stuff £50 a cube. We ring and split 6 - 8 Cube in 6 hrs on a saturday. Sometimes charge £300 guarantee 6 cube 8 if your lucks in. If there are any real me out there that can do better I can sub the jobs to you.
  13. No starting up in the next 12 months and never within a 20 mile radius would give me a bit more confidence.
  14. I think I must have been on the cider cos I did it free hand in drawing package. It looked more like a dinasaur with chunky legs but i posted it anyway. Going to get the trailer in next few days getting hire and insurance for tractor sorted. Will fit grab have a play and post some pics with wood on it.
  15. I have had most things insured by the nfu. Not had to make a claim but have heard from others they are fair and get on with it in the event of a claim. So far the premiums have been ok and they reward loyalty unlike the rest. The best thing is they speak English in England.
  16. Its strange how different people have different experiences. The worst vehicle i owned was a new transit in 1995. The vauxhalls I had were ok and anything german has been superb.
  17. We serviced generators on a sit for 10 years and they never had any money. The contract was worth about 8k for 8 generators. Then they placed the contract with someone else and spent Half a million on new sets. We were not asked to tender as we were percieved not to be able to cope with the new health and safety regime as we were to cheap. Moral of that story kick them between the legs till the money falls out.
  18. All the clutter around the house and all those tools that seemed a good idea at the time but never get used. The stuff squirreled away to repair machines you no longer own. Ebay 3 day listing.
  19. Leave one in the sun for a couple of months and you will need the dust pan and brush.
  20. We would be glad of your logs but I think we may too far away from you could be 20 miles. I normally pay Raymound Brown at Barton Stacey to take my sawdust as inert for £10 a tonne. Its dry so normally 3 cu metres only comes to a tonne. Not sure if this helps you.
  21. I have a 530 traffic tt good when it works. Absolutely loads of software problems I think caused by hands free phone use. Batteries rubbish even when new. Have replaced mine with new bat after 3 years better now. Have a tt go as well much simpler and no problems half the price. After all this I would still buy against a garmin.
  22. Hard and soft mixed for £70 sounds good. If we cant sell 2cu metres of mixed hardwood for £195.00 we will cut back and concentrate on kindling. I think if we sold at £240 it would sell out but not till February.
  23. Good bit of inside info:thumbup1: 25% margin seems reasonable even 12.5% worth doing best we were expected to work with on a 10k diesel generator was £700 or 7% and then they wanted on 30 days credit.
