  1. Its just over 2 tonnes mt and 2800kg when full of logs. I cant find a pic side on but I dont think you can get your hand between body and cab if it helps.
  2. There is only one answer to the problem which is to cut the trees down which would be very sad. I feel sorry for the family and their loss but if you enter a wooded area you have to accept the risk something may fall on you. When working on building sites we have to risk asess hazards left on site overnight in case kids break through the safety barriers and fencing. If anyone is tresspassing and gets injured, tough they should be paying the contractor compensation not sueing because their off spring went joy riding in a dump truck. Its now implied that all plant should have additional imobilisation other than an ignition key.
  3. We can get 2 cu metres of dry logs out in it. When I change the truck will move the body on to next chassis will pay more attention to pay load could be a king cab if it has room as seems to have best payload.
  4. I have had a few pms about what I was doing. The post was started about a year ago and I went ahead and had a hilux made into a tipper hopefully you should see a pic. It cost about 3k inc vat with all the extra bits I asked for.
  5. And I bet you dont have a 1" gap all round the doors like a defender
  6. This year you will stack next to the back door. Next year half way up the garden. Year after top of garden 1/4 mile away behind compost heap over the nettles:biggrin:
  7. jonsie is doing oregon chainsaw gloves on clearance at £10
  8. Not if we can possibly help it. stacking I could deliver 5 double loads on a saturday if I was lucky. Not stacking we get 8 out no brainer really. By offering free stacking we would deliver £600 less product. I dont mind stacking if they are not capable but not if bone idle.
  9. the jury is still out here but if one lands on my poly tunnel and sets off £10,000 worth of dry logs I know which way I will vote.
  10. how did he loose the tip of his finger if both hands were on the levers ?
  11. Sheppach ox 3 or something like that about 9 tonne with fast cycle time
  12. Our machine is rated 12" but anything over 9" is a faff so we dice with chainsaw and use a very fast vertical splitter with auto return and two speed pump. I have never been completely convinced on the whole processor thing. Two good men with a good hyd splitter can turn out some serious wood without to much maintenance or initial cost.
  13. I have this image of fat old farts sitting in oak clad offices drinking the finest whiskey laughing at idiots like me across the road working in the rain. Much like corgi or niceace or what ever they called. They wont be taking £750 of me in 13 months.
  14. 32 cu metres of finest dry logs:biggrin:
  15. once diced up we produce 1cu metre an hr with one man operating our vertical splitter. 6 hrs is enough . So with 2 men working a processor you need at least 3 cu an hr or its not worth owning a processor. Ours is rated 6 cu an hr but 4 is more realistic especially with 3" sticks drops even more.
  16. 6 years ago the TT85 was £1650.00 plus vat and I think the TT105 was just over 2k and TT126 was £300 more. I remember thinking the big trailer was better value for money but to big for the job. The prices have shot up we bought a new car on the scrappage scheme for 5k
  17. Hi Nick hope things go well our youngest was premature and my wife had pre eclampsia so emergency sunroof baby. Our circumstances were almost identical to yours for what its worth I think you are doing the right thing. Ours battled for 3 months in hospital. Now 6 years old and doing well but has a slight degree of brain damage which is really just a learning difficulty. They can work wonders if I can help give me a shout.
  18. Dont usually get much in the summer but had some orders today so I think your right about the rain.
  19. If a product has ce on it dont assume its certified. I have seen generators with a ce mark which looked odd not like the official mark. When we looked into it the no on the cert was for a food blender. Apparently ce also means chinese export
  20. My business picks up the cost of my car. A percentage of personal use is declared and I pay about £90 a quarter to enable vat to be claimed on the personal use. If I was limited I would pay 1000's a year in personal income tax. Also remember for a car sole trader or paye you can only claim tax relief on the first 12k of vehicle cost each year or that was the rule unless they changed for the fat cats.
  21. I sell firewood, if my timber is suitable for turning its better than firewood and commands a better price.
  22. I run a 4.2 landcruiser and going limited would cost me a fortune. The tax breaks are not as good as they were limited but you do protect your personal wealth if things go wrong.
  23. I had 20 2ft buts 10ft long perfectly straight ash. Took us a day to ring and split for firewood. If were u I would borrow or hire a 70cc saw and dice it up.
  24. We have been down the off cut route. For us there is no way we could make it pay. You will be better off with 8ft lengths of larch. the time consuming bit is preping it to 6". We sell our bags retail £3.30 trade £1.50 its tight on profit but u need to leave enough in it for you trade customers so they can buy and store 6 months in front and have enough in the job to allow them to collect. Selling your bags for £1 u may aswell stay in bed
