  1. I am pondering the sale of our small trailer crane. We use it round the yard and for forwarding in forest. I have removed the grab and rotator for use on our new trailer. It needs the swivel pins rebushing on the bogies. I am thinking 2k or near offer.
  2. Hopefully you should have a pm if not let me know and I will resend. We will collect the lot if you like.
  3. I am going to make one for the yard out of an all terrain pallet truck so it can be moved when full of logs
  4. This is just my opinion but cut in to logs and left in the sun not heaped with plenty of breeze your pushing your luck. cut into rings very unlikely. Cut into 3ft billets unlikely. Oak does take a long time to season you will need to cut log in half and meter before sending out in autumn. They will be excellent next year.
  5. I have a large crane trailer and can hire a tractor but I think we are to far away. We may have already spoken about this a month or so ago. We are in Andover Hampshire
  6. To even take the wood free from the contractor you will need to produce reams of paper work inc every licence under the sun, Planning permission, defra certs etc then if you are prepared to do that they will twig the wood is worth something and start trying to charge you for it. Been there done that just as easy to buy in cord wood.
  7. The Hilux d4d engine from about 2002 was good on fuel. We have a 1998 turbo and it does 23 mpg around town and less on a run. But its a good reliable truck for sending 2 cu meters 5 miles.
  8. What about an avant. there is a post on here titled maintenance and someone has just bought one. You could load an atv trailer and drag it back would be quick too.
  9. Currently same price as last winter at £1.50 + vat per bag collection only. We sell alot of bags to members on here so try to give the best price we can. Alot of people retail them for £3.95 ea or 3 for £10. The way prices are going up could be £5 a bag or 3 for £12 soon.
  10. For the last two years everybody selling firewood good or bad has been busy. No matter how much seasoned logs you have it will be depleated by November even without advertising. You cant get any busier. Customers dont need to buy a year in advance just buy now and not 4pm christmas eve when they have 2 logs left.
  11. Could be because they think they will get loose packed nets. If you present a good product at the right price you will sell and get repeat business. Our nets weigh 4kg on average and are made from new kiln dried planned timber. Pick below. The wife has told me we are currently booked till end of July but can do orders after then. I am working away for 10 days if anyone is interested will answer messages on return.
  12. I sell by volume. I am not worried in the slightest about % moisture. If people want bone dry wood buy it 2 years before you need it. If you buy green processed beech from me now it will be 20% by November. Why are we buying cord and sitting on it for 12 months in the hope of making a 20% margin. If I borrow the money to buy the cordwood it will cost me 16%. It will be the same this year people ringing round in October trying to get the lowest possible price for the driest wood. Come December they will take anything they can get.
  13. I been down the pub and spent the £20 now:001_rolleyes:
  14. No If they have a big house and fire place thats nice for them.
  15. I think with most common rail engines the injection sys is so good it can give you excellent economy or incredible performance but you cant have both. With a light foot you get good fuel economy but it just feels so nice planting that right foot
  16. Thats not the spirit your supposed to spend £8000 on a machine then pretend your not working 14 hr days trying to save an extra 10p on a bag. Remember you want all the money not just the profit
  17. If you can get 35 mpg out of a d22 I would keep it. I bought a new one on 52 plate it did 25mpg it did not really matter as it spent most of its 18 months at the dealers luckily I kept my disco van and went back to it for 3 years after I sold the Nissan.
  18. I would offer it to a neighbour with a wood burner for £20 . Cant see how small amount of short lengths would build anything.
  19. With a large saw and short bar how does this affect the chainbrake operation. With less weight on the front of the saw I would imagine a kickback would be harder to control, are you more likely to get a face full of sharp bits and does the chain brake still function as well.
  20. It is a fendt but its not mine unfortunately. I have a couple of hire ageements set up for nice big new tractors so just need some work for it.
  21. for the last 7 years i have done a round trip of 1500 miles visiting 3 sites I charged 3k an it took 4 days to service 3 generators.
  22. When my bobcat gives up the ghost I will be looking for one especially bendy steer as less damage to grass than my skid steer.
  23. I thought about hyd but I think the weight of the hoses would annoy. We have a stihl mse220 much better than you would possibly imagine but terrible vibs.
  24. Its worth doing but not by hand. Profit is very tight with a machine doing it wholesale. My wife uses our kindlet and make really nice bags and we are in the same county. Pm Sent
