  1. You mean you have control of the buttons in your house
  2. Yes all you need is a generator a dungeon and some retarded members of the public = television
  3. Wifes had ours on at least 10 times already run out of room in the barn for logs so she helped by taking some out the back
  4. Luckily I got mine last week it was free listing so he did it half price.
  5. I can sing ( badly and in too deep a voice ) I was born under a wondering star it always sounds much better when i have drunk ten pints of Newquay cider. If I get through the auditions do you think you could vote for me. I would obviously take both a stihl and a husqvarna on stage with me.
  6. So can mine but she WANTS to drive her new i10 and i guess after a few years its best to keep the peace anything for an easy life
  7. If I had a good local pub The money I spent would be more than recouped By extra business but if it wasnt who cares
  8. With another 2 hrs of x factor to go ( although 1hr 45 minutes will be ads ) I would come down your local but I think 145 miles is a long way to walk even drunk.
  9. I have had a defender tipper now got a hilux tipper. Unless I was going to carry 1.5 tonnes of chip I would never buy another Landrover. Even then then if the other half was driving it defo no LR . I personally dont like the L200 for a huge list of reasons but some people get on very well with them. I have had old toyotas with starship mileage and no probs. If you turn one into a tipper look really closely at the payload I think the extra cab carries the most weight. You may need to go up rather than out.
  10. I remember buying at a dove bid auction. They would only accept bacs which cost me £25 not a problem if you spend thousands but I only spent £500. They also have a nasty habit of extending the auction time if they get new bids
  11. The biggest problem with logs is cash flow and storage and I have not found a stove supplier that eases either of these problems. We cant keep up with the demand in the winter what we need is people to buy and store their logs in the summer. As a self employed person working with my hands tied behind my back for a stove installer would not work for me. I could always start stocking and installing stoves.
  12. If you can get the wood free you could process and make yourself good money.
  13. A metre of timber or 1 tonne of most hardwoods will turn into 1.5 to 1.6 cubic metres not 2 . Most cord suppliers sell by metres not weight now. I dont buy 20 tonnes of timber and get 40 cubic metres of loose logs. Does anyone else. You may get 40 900mm bags.
  14. Perhaps that came out wrong. What I meant was although I dont have all those processes whoever supplies me does. I have forklifts and teleporters my small processor probably runs on the same size tractor as their big machine. They deliver several loads with one truck I deliver one with a tipper. They guarantee the wood will be dry and burn. I would imagine most of the wood on here will be dry but the public dont know that and sometimes have a bad experience with small local suppliers.
  15. Friend had a 53 plate one when it was about 5 years 30,000 miles luckily he bought from a mitsi main dealer as 11 months later it dropped the flywheel and took out the crank shaft. Needed new engine, flywheel, clutch and gearbox about 5k . After a few months it started to make a few noises when you put the clutch in He traded it in for a freelander. I know its not a newer shape but although it did go bang it was sorted by mitsibushi.
  16. I have always bought beech on 55% wood buts its a bit bendy compared with Larch. You could try meeting in the middle but you probably will still loose out. Cut the volume you sell to them down and spread your eggs and avoid them in the future.
  17. I would say operating and maintaining a modern processor is not unskilled. Also how many unskilled workers have between 30-60k invested in equipment. You could have to invest 25k in cord wood 12 months before you need it just to earn a living. Dont put yourself down there are plenty of others out there to do that most of them wearing suits waiting to be made redundant now that really is unskilled.
  18. Yes strange it is . If you pay £50 a tonne. A cubic metre has cost £35 for the wood + fuel wear and tear. So either people are not paying £50 a tonne or are selling under sized loads. If you sell for £80 a metre leaves you with £20 for an hours labour if you are lucky.
  19. I would imagine she gave her statement very fast with a lot of yeah but no buts thrown in. I think alot of the trouble is caused by schools putting children on a pedastal and treating them like customers rather than children.
  20. Less than you burn in a small set up and alot easier on the back. The reason they do so well is they give the impression the wood will be dry.
  21. So 50p is vat. We could make £4 just stocking the stuff no wonder the uk is going down the pan. By the time blokes have had their maternity pay, sick pay holiday pay, done the metod statement, risk assement, fire risk assement, had the lunch break, tea break and had a couple of dumps we have no chance of competeing with that.
  22. I had a similar problem with some 4" bent ash cord last year very dry and a nightmare to get through a processor.
  23. I am sure it is a fantastic bit of kit especially for pruneing but I sort of got it in my head he was going to use it for firewood production but I think I just got that wrong.
  24. Trouble is with automatic is it stops when something jams until someone notices. Also the quality suffers so you may as well be semi auto and pull less levers but still have control over quality. Big processors like big timber and when used with 8" cord produce too much sawdust and trash.
