  1. Airstreams. By far the comfiest and most waterproof boots I have ever worn. Can be a little on the cool side in winter, but I find that with all boots with toe caps tbh.
  2. 660 all the way for me. Best saw stihl do.
  3. Of course, silly me, I thought it was the bankers that put the country on its arse, turns out it is people spending benefits on rags and weed.
  4. Co Durham climb would be good, let's get it on.
  5. Visor on the ground and safe eyes in the tree for me. Although they don't fog up the goggles get a bit sweaty if I wear them for extended periods.
  6. Ours has been out of action more often than not. Problems with the top roller assembly. To be fair redwood have now changed the whole assembly. (on both out tr6 and sr6). Both hoppers have cracked welds too. A few other niggles with the computers and stress control too.
  7. And with a jet boil you don't even have to get out the van!
  8. I thought that was caps, not font size, forgive my forum faux pas.
  9. You obviously know what you are talking about when it comes to your own wood, however climbing and dismantling trees is a completely different ballgame to felling at ground level. I would not recommend you go ahead without the appropriate training and experience, and would certainly not recommend you climb as a 'lone forester'. I understand your 'have a go' approach, but in this instance it would make sense to get a couple of experienced climbers in, both in terms if cost effectiveness and more importantly your own safety.
  10. If you are using your saw correctly there is only one way you can hold a top handled saw anyway ; )
  11. Netbooks with a piezo?! I'm patenting that.
  12. I've known the piezo to go on a few netbooks. And iirc they recalled the early models due to this fault. Also for some reason the piezo doesn't work that well in sub zero temperatures.
  13. silkys are like ghurka knives, you must draw blood every time you unsheath it.
  14. Get the zip. 50p for a lighter which fits nicely in a little pocket on the outside, leaving you £29.50 to spend on cuppa soups.
  15. Great stuff. Been using on and off for six years. Still nothing out there to come close.
  16. Thanks skyhuck, that's what I thought. Ultimately all I was trying to do was save me, and them a bit of time and effort. There are only 2 trees in the garden, an ash and a cypress, so it should be pretty easy for the planning officer to tell one from the other I would hope a bit of common sense would prevail.......although this is plannng we are talking about
  17. Ok, so normally I would submit a sketch plan regardless of whether tree is TPO or conservation area. On this occasion I have re-submitted an application which was sent to me back requiring additional information, this time without a plan, as I assumed they would have the original. They do, but it has not "scanned in well" and are requesting another. According to section 8 of the application form "A sketch plan is also advised when notifying the LPA of works to trees in a conservation area" So if it is only advised.........
  18. Isn't the treatment allicin? a compound found in garlic, read something about this a while back, and it having a positive side effect on HC leaf miner too?
