    My accident

Proper Papp shots those mate. Really good to see you too and great to be at the seminar. It was a very draining day both physically but more so mentally. On the Monday I decided not to attend but as the day wore on I realised I was using my physical pain as an excuse not to go and it was in fact psychological. It would be easier for me to stay at home. I wouldn't then have to face any obstacles or answer questions about my accident. It was at this realisation that I decided I HAD to go. It would be a massive metaphorical step for me. I'm so glad I did. Not only did I get to see old colleagues and attend an interesting seminar but I over came a huge psychological hurdle. Win.Win.Win.
  2. Seriously?? Making such a sweeping generalisation that most followers of Islam quietly love it when these atrocities happen. That's no different to saying that most Irish Catholicss quietly loved it when the IRA were carrying out bombings. As I said, a ridiculous thing to say
  3. You're stars. Touch my heart, thank you. When I get my motor I'll come and see you for a pint.
  4. Been a rollercoaster. But in getting there day by day. Slowly slowly. I'm here alive with food in my belly, heating and hot water. All good.
  5. I can't watch the bloke which is a shame because he has done some interesting programs
  6. Maybe An employee Mr Douglas Spruce smoked a joint and got a bit mixed up?
  7. Such a cool photo Geoff. I love it.
  8. A relevant thread to put it in with some great examples http://arbtalk.co.uk/forum/picture-forum/13743-beauty-c-o-d-i-t.html
  9. Of course I understand wanting to show support for a nation in mourning, a nation who has had its innocent citizens slaughtered. But this happens on a day to day basis all over the world. Indeed only a day before the Parisian atrocities ISIS carried out attacks in Lebanon and Iraq with an equally catastrophic outcome. During this year there has been 100's of refugees found suffocated in the backs of lorries. There have been 100's of students slaughtered including 147 in Kenya alone on a university campus. Where were the Kenyan flags? The Somalian, Syrian, Lebanese flags? Is it because we have become too desensitised to these places and its people because of the frequency of such events? Are you waving the French flag because it is close to home, it is White, cultured, European? Is it because of the media portrayal of all these events. Indeed some of the events mentioned barely warranted a paragraph in most newspapers. Please do not think I am judging anybody or being confrontational. I am not. I am merely trying to understand why the grieving and sympathy for the people of Paris far outweighs that for people of other nations. Or at least it is shown on a much more public level. There were candlelit vigils held all over the world last night in honour of those who lost their lives in Paris. Nothing wrong with that at all but where was the world wide candle lit vigil the day before for all those civilians who lost their lives in Lebanon? I do not get it. it should have been a vigil for EVERYBODY who have lost their lives these last few days. A vigil for world peace. A life is a life. A child is a child. A mother is a mother, regardless of race or religion. Grief is grief. Horror is horror, whichever continent is occurs on. As I said, not judging, just asking. PEACE X
  10. A great selection of BBC radio programmes looking at all things trees:thumbup: BBC - Trees
  11. Interesting programme looking at the risks to and futures of urban trees http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b007750d
  12. Yea I understand that. I had visions of this lapsed veteran orchard with all its habitat being wiped out. Thanks for info.
  13. I was unfortunate enough to be involved in a job last year which saw the removal of 7 mature pear trees. That was a sad day. Each tree supported a whole myriad of species from insects feeding on deadwood, birds nesting in cavities, epiphytes and fungi. 20 acres is a large number of trees, a whole Eco system in that one orchard, gone just like that. A sad day indeed.
  14. i was going to say....ive seen photos of yours that are just as good as that one.
  15. I've got some cherry in Bristol about that size. It will need slicing and it's been outside for 6 months so may split a bit once cut.

I should add though that I did read all your messages whilst in Hospital, it was just done in a Drug fuel traumatic state. I can read them with a little more clarity now.

    My accident

So I finally got some new wheels to get me out and about and back amongst the trees. I soon realised though that I really do need to take it easy and that it is going to be a fair while until my back has healed properly. Need to slow myself down in everything. It's been a roller coaster couple of months since my discharge to say the least. I'm in the process of summarising all that's happend ( and that hasn't) so will give a full update very soon. Still here though and still smiling most of the time. He's a photo of my new chair which wouldn't have been possible without the support of many people including all those who contributed to the collection for me at the Arb show. Many many thanks to you all. I'm so grateful. I have also started to go through all the private messages I received from you lot whilst I was in hospital. Wow, overwhelmed by all the kind offers and words. The world is not such a bad place after all . I apologise if I have failed to respond to people but I hope you understand. I am now working through them and will reply to them soon. Cheers guys.
