    Tree Shadows

    Very observant and very funny.
  2. Out and about today and had a mess about with the impact tree shadows make.
  3. I've been looking at Makita with paddle switch and have just found a Bosch with paddle switch. May get a lathe in time too. Thanks for advice.
  4. More angle grinder carving:001_smile: Just thought I should finally get to work on all the wood I've been collecting over the years while I've got lots of spare time. Get an adze to make some bowls, anglegrinder with some Galahad attachments. Have a muck about and use it as part of my physiotherapy regime. And thanks for all the replies gents. Appreciated.
  5. I'm in the market for an angle grinder. I do not want a cheap one but one that will be for the job. It will be used for sanding and carving I guess. I'm presuming a Bosch or Mikita but which model is recommended. Around £100 mark maybe? Any suggestions much appreciated. Cheers Sean
  6. An account of how nature played a big part in my recovery whilst in hospital is in the current issue of The Barefoot Diaries. Accompanying the article are my photographs. The Barefoot Diaries is a fantastic journal. Looking at walking, foraging, artworks, healing, wilderness, cob ovens, poetry, whatever. It's about the connections we make with the natural world. Worth a fiver of any bodies money. Check it out here TheBarefootDiaries
  7. Nice mate. Good photos and informative. I run a Facebook group Trees, Leaves, twigs, roots and stuff. I can share your blog on there if you like. It has 800 odd members who are all into tree related stuff.

    My accident

Wow what a year it's been.... A proper life changer for sure. At deaths door but out the other side, changed but still here and thankful to be surrounded by amazing family and friends and lots of people who were unknown to me but have been with me every step of the way, who have all risen to the challenge that this year presented. Laughing with me, crying with me, cleaning me, holding me and much much more besides. And now I am here seeing this year out and awaiting the challenges that the new one holds for me. And I'm still here to see it because of so many beautiful souls, none more so than the amazing woman ( Susi) by my side who has been with me every step of the way and continues to hold our family together. I love her dearly. If I can take one thing with me and offer it up as advice it would be to surround yourself with friends and family, for if you do whatever is thrown at you, however bad things get you can beat it with love. Peace x x

  11. John your intentions are admirable. Whether a good idea or not you have shown what a good soul you are. Top man.
  12. Hi I was just wondering if people had any views on this. Good or bad. Arbortech TurboPlane Blade
  13. Whether they are refugees or economic migrants the fact is there are children living in desperate conditions. To openly wish that they endure suffering makes you one sicko. You're a horrible bloke and I'm ashamed and gutted to be connected to you via this site. If it wasn't for the fact that there are lots of sound people on here I'd leave.
  14. Totally agree. A vital document for all those in the public who are campaigning to save their communities trees and lobbying to increase urban tree cover. I found it really interesting.
  15. I was also interested to see that Apple was at ahead of London Plane in population within inner London 6% compared to 4% for Plane although Plane thrashes Apple in total Leaf cover 8.9% to Apples 1.3%. I've got time on my hands
  16. "Initiate veteranisation" on two mature Oaks is a strange one. Veteranisation techniques are usually used on younger trees to mimic storm damage etc and speed up decay process for habitat creation etc. Retrenchment pruning can be carried out as part of a long term management plan to hopefully instigate lower growth so over time the crown can be reduced. A specification for such works needs to be quite detailed with %'s and time frames etc.
  17. The post from Gerrit is from 2011.
  18. Chinese Pagoda tree. Kew Gardens. Planted 1762
  19. It all makes sense now why you have the views you do if your are quoting the Mirror and The Mail ha ha
