    Arbtalkers

Well its that time of year again when we all settle down with families and friends and have a right ole jolly knees up. Good food, good company and lots of christmas cheer. This year, i've made some friends, made some work colleagues, made some bargains and generally found arbtalk to be a useful tool as well as a social place for us all to unwind and relax. I'm not going to preach to any of you but this year whilst having you christmas dinner take a quick thought to the more unfortunate people in this world and wish THEM good will and merry christmas, we can forget sometimes that we have it easy. Overall, enjoy yourself in whatever you do, stay safe, keep warm and have a good time. Merry christmas and goodwill to ALL mankind, especially you lot:thumbup: Have a good 'un Robin:santaclaus:
  5. I've only got two but thats still pretty much cleared me out! well worth it though:thumbup:
  6. finish tomorrow at 2, then off till the 10th, roll on christmas (isn't christmas great:thumbup:)then snowboarding in france hear i come!!
  7. took this pic with my new camera (that i'm not supposed to be playing with yet:blushing:) and was playing about with all the settings. Now how can I get ALL the rosehips in focus as I seem to have just the left 2 out of the four in focus... admittedly i have not got a tripod yet which would help, and i did try a few things with the aperture (all helpful hints from this thread) but this was the best i could get it before my fingers froze!
  8. the next one on a winter solstice being 2094:thumbup:
  9. i love my meindls but don't find them very warm?? this weather they're shocking, or i may jus thave bad circulation in my feet..!
  10. i use my own variation of the knut so the knot is slighty to one side and it doesn't twist my rope, use the top hole for the other end of your rope and the bottom hole for the tail ends of your hitch, i use the petzl oval and have never had any probs
  11. that last one, bottom right is a beaut!!
  12. Us northerners are not worther of the southerners "news" not that i'm bitter or anythin:lol:

    things to do

nah the wing suits, sheer insanity and exhilaration at the same time... although everything on that list is both pretty nuts and impressive at the same time now if only i had the money to do it! ps, i am in no way belittling your most awesomness acheivement, i am purely jealous:thumbup:
  14. Sounds pricey! Practicality vs Affordability on this one, another argument of sustainability. How practical would it be for everyone to suddenly re-invest in all new ropes/ppe/saws when safe practice is cheaper? nice idea though, can't see it catchin on
  15. i kinda like it but then again i like shiny bright new things... bit like a magpie does:thumbup:
  16. yes, i also worked, scrimped and saved, paid for my own tickets, ppe, equipment, saws and now have paid or at least am paying (monthly) for my degree and whilst I appreciate that not everyone can do this i am proud to say that i have worked hard to get to where i am today without anybody else help but my own. so in other words, awesome first post:thumbup:
  17. Why is it that when us here (in the northwest) have snow, specifically deaths on the road (M61 - J8,J9, M6 - J22-27), people getting stuck and abandoned, and just downright bad conditions (even though the snow is ace) do the SOUTH, specifically london have one or too flakes of snow and its a major disaster!!?? No reports of us up here or nothin, and this happens all the time?
  18. Sorry, my bad, missed it first time round
  19. haha:lol: took me a while that one:confused: realised the error of my ways now....
  20. second pic, that tree underneath the balloon in the background, is it supposed to be green or have you "missed" a bit of greyscaling?? ps, nice pics but are you really that bored? you get no snow at all?
