  1. really nice combination of colours there!
  2. maybe the customer wanted it that way:blushing: ah forever the optimist!
  3. definately not a katsura, winter buds on a katsura are a definate red colour
  4. quick version i sometimes do for quickness is diced corned beef with baked beans with a buttery mashed potato and cheese topping, shove it in the oven and cook till the potato/cheese goes light brown and crispy mmmmm
  5. ran out of time, back in the morning job? or is that wishful thinking?
  6. cheers rob, any other ideas anyone?
  7. haha yeah, just trying to do a bit of brainstorming... got a good idea but want to see if somebody else mentions the subject i'm going to do.. to see if it is actually relevant to current legislations
  8. if you had to chose a current and contraversial element to current health and safety legislations what would it be? there are a lot of controversies out there regarding our job and this industry but if you could chose to identify one issue that affects you in particular, what would it be? i've thought of a few to get going but opinions from other people would be great... Is our PPE we use adequate? Is some of it neccessary ie gloves? What about experience vs training, a bit like driving a car... A lot of people can pass the test but does that mean the job can be done straight away? Should we even climb at all - MEWP use etc Any other ideas?
  9. Geocaching - The Official Global GPS Cache Hunt Site started gecaching about 3 years ago:blushing: got over 75 finds on this website, not done it since summer last year though, one of the blokes i used to work with came up with loads of ingenious ideas on how to find the caches in logs and trees (without being unsafe or the tree getting damaged) got quite addictive for a while
  10. i know rupe, hindsight is a wonderful thing! I told them in the interview that he was qualified enough to go and look at other jobs and organise them for us so what was different about this one:thumbup: how he got work in the first place i'll never know... think he may of been a freemason and got all the backhanders:lol:
  11. its definately a learning curve that i'll have gained valuable experience from haha!!
  12. yup definately told them it "could" be done, would never TELL anyone what should be done, even foreigners, i give them an opinion and they decide what they want to be done. the plain facts:- it wasn't or ever was my job to quote/tender/survey/find/organise/sort/seek tpo advice etc any tree work i worked on the tools i was at the work site on my own doing some hedgecutting and was asked to give an opinion (in hindsight, which is a wonderful thing, i should've said no) on the trees i wrote down in handwriting all trees on site and my opinion of what COULD be done, gave a copy to work site and re-wrote another and gave to boss, thought i was doing him a favour!! about 6-8 weeks later, we got a job pack with description of tree works with basically my opinions typed up into a list, (still no report as such from the boss) i can't remember if they all were the same as mine but the pollards where. we started the work, left the pollards till last late friday afternoon, made a start on pollarding the ash, had time to take one smallish limb off which i did, then packed up the tools and went back to base/home i fell sick that weekend, had the start of the week off work sick and when i came in later that week the job had been nearly completed by chargehand and another colleague. i stayed on the ground, the trees (according to LA TO have been topped) dec - i left the company upon leaving i was told by my boss good luck etc etc but also that there had been a complaint about the pollards (just a complaint not who) and as part of his complaints procedure, could i write (again hand written) why we had done the job. i did this in a fair amount of detail, writing down ash had dieback in crown, hispidus brackets etc etc, again thought i was doing him a favour and i DIDN't sign it. then the LA ring and ask me to come in under caution. in interview they show me a written report (typed up) with my writings in there saying why i had said the job should be done...!!!!! was told by interviewers that my ex boss had told them he had no arb quals and wasn't qualified to make these decisions? hopefully i put them straight in the end but can you see how it looks bad!
  13. felt it went ok, was weird at first , felt as though i'd been arrested because it was under caution! Asked me my job role etc and why my name was on the report saying the trees needed to be pollarded (faked)! toward the end they were pleasant and reasonable and said they understood my position in things but it still wasn't a nice experience haha
  14. yes went yesterday evening, and it would be my ex-boss, i left in dec last year
  15. a fine! can't afford it mate and the missus is stresses coz she likes to stress, which isn't pleasant haha! plus don't want it to affect any future job prospects
  16. why ben? you done something you shouldn't have and are sweating on the time hehe! hope you don't have to go through anythin like this!!
  17. plus plus, i wasn't even the chargehand on site... for any innocent party in these type of preceedings i can definately safe its not a nice experience!
  18. plus i'll say again, i took one limb off! then i was off sick and the work continued without me and was nearly finished when i got back, there was one tree to do and i stayed on the ground!
  19. yep, it was established practice, AND other employees COULD prove this easily. also a quote from above, my signature wasn't on the "report", it wasn't forged just my name typed on it and not by me:lol:
  20. it could also be weeks to months before i hear anything now which is a worry for the missus coz she likes to worry!!
