  2. hi ben, no need to make excuses haha, as i said wasn't a criticism just interested on the timescale. i know how long it takes to cut timber up compared to just throwing it through a chipper...! good work and nice pics:thumbup:
  3. It might be a little strange, but surely nobody can pass judgement till the full story is known... as nobody KNOWS the full story, surely we can't pass judgement then?
  4. can i ask as to why it took 2.5 days? (just out of interest of course, tis not a criticism)
  5. thats a large gnarly beech, looked like a good job
  6. I suppose its like anywhere really, you get the good with the bad although i must admit i haven't seen any of the good yet:blushing: There are a lot and i mean a lot of council estates and rough areas but most of the people are pleasant enough (apart from when they start to say the trees shouldn''t be there, pfft philistines) there are plenty of old cemetaries which we also do work in with plenty big and interesting trees. So all in all i probably wouldn't choose salford as a holiday destination but i've seen a lot worst, oh and we've got plenty black (manchester) pops up here, really gnarly trees! ps One thing i have noticed is that the trees get thinned too much... hmmmm...
  7. wish we were allowed to thin like that instead of the daylight butchery we have to do! nice one
  8. Not as impressive a skyline as london but here's sunny manchester from the top of an alder in sunny salford at 10am this morning, you can just about make out the hilton!
  9. anyone seen this? just watched it and what a weird baffling film it is!! anyone understand what its about??
  10. me in aforementioned ash reduction!
  11. an awkward sycy thin from friday and another awkward harsh ash reduction from this morning!
  12. juniperus communis - either the skyrocket or spartan grow upright
  13. I'm in uni mode ya see! Anything to see the difference in growth under differing circumstances and environment can only be a good thing!
  14. Have you got a control plant to see the difference in growth? could be an interesting experiment!
  15. pardon me for being thick:blushing: but what does that mean??
  16. i've had it a while as its been available through uni.... oops my mistake, that would be a different seminar i've got
  17. apologies:blushing: Vantage point for this one??
  18. horse/mares tail, yes i know its one of the oldest living organisms on the planet but it ain't half hard to get rid of!
  19. to be honest, i prefer trees of an uneven shape as it looks more natural, BUT, they also then don't look like they've had anything done to them... yes this is a good thing but tell the general public that... IME and its only an observation, some TO's seem to like the tree a nice even shape and as i'm only a worker and not in a position of authority (this i'm working on) to decide whats what, then i go with the flow and do as i'm told
  20. can i ask why? out of curiosity of course!
