  1. so do you class yourself as an ecologist hama? (innocent curious question thats all:blushing:) Its a hard subject really and one with a lot more grey areas than just black and white, every situation i feel is different i suppose its also a question about morals on what you would do as so far as being able to earn a living, Tom, there is nothing wrong with your outlook on this subject and reasons you state for what you do are valid and suit your needs I on the other hand would probably put the needs of the tree first even if that meant i would probably in this day and age end up out of pocket.. but as with hama i feel my route lies elsewhere (still in the trees though) so that is why i have made my decisionm hope this makes sense to someone!
  2. haha i'm not looking and don't expect to "get rich" from this but it would be an extra income if it was viable... the idea in my head is still not finalised, i've drawn a few drawings but nothing technical i'm trying to come up with a way of utilising an already existing concept (as mentioned) but a different design so as not to go against existing patents, this is where the lawyer comes in. as for the drawings and engineer that is a good idea hama, i'm nowhere near that stage yet but i hope to be there in the future and it may be worth having a chat with your father to get some much needed advice.
  3. I understand what you mean, it's hard to explain without kind of well revealing my idea, and this is the difficulty. I could do with talking to a lawyer. Like Steve said, i'm gonna sleep on it but cheers for all the input guys
  4. Good point:thumbup: is there a bloke on arbtalk, Reg is it? Who invents stuff? Would it be worth asking for an opinion or general feedback on inventing processes?
  5. This is what I'm thinking after Reading the already existing patent that is similar. Because it's a crossover from a different industry, the use is/will be different even though the concept is the same unfortunately I now have to make the choice of deciding if this idea is a goer and spending a bit of money on a patent lawyer who would/could check all the similarities and legalities behind it but if it makes me semi-wealthier() than I am now which would be a massive financial boost in my case haha, then I genuinely do beleive that this idea is a goer
  6. Yup me too, but unfotunately they are part of the job, that's why I thought of spikeless, but apparently someone thought of it first:lol:
  7. exactly! someone else can work on that idea, i haven't got the time!! on my original idea it is definately used for other industries, but the setup seems different... think i'm gonna have to do some research on the difference between design/concept/plaguerism etc etc
  8. spikeless spikes:thumbup:
  9. not the same but similar
  10. yeh done an interent search, at first i didn't know if i should as to whether somebady could check at what i've been googling haha!! anyway, i have only found 1 similar product anywhere but it was for a different industry and made completely different to how i would make it but the concept was similar
  11. to apply for a patent, do you just need to have an idea or up to the stage of technical drawings?
  12. glass half empty there hama:lol: mmmm serious thinking needed! i may apply to the dragons, and they'll give me £250,000 for a 2.3% stake in my business:thumbup:
  13. I had an idea for a piece of equipment i was using today that kept annoying me on ways to make it better (for me). i think it could also make it better for other people too (after talking to other work colleagues), but how would i go about making/trying and testing/even marketing and getting things out there? are there people that do this now? i only ask because i'm up to my eyeballs in study but really do think this idea is worth following up, how would i go about getting help and advice on a new product without that new product (if it even gets to that stage) be conveniently "thought of" by somebady else??
  14. thats not mares tail, but what it is i don't know..... yet:thumbup:
  15. Well I didn't know that, cheers for the info!
  16. I wasn't the one doin the thinning:biggrin:

  19. its also the general public to some extent that needs educating on what is good/bad practice people like this only get away with what they do because they are hired by unsuspecting public in the first instance
  20. we need to plant more trees:thumbup: for every one we take down, plant 2, simples... our futures safe if we grow it:biggrin:
