  9. Yep, If your in america and that tree is a Pin, Red, Black or Scarlet oak, then its the aforementioned little beastie:biggrin: The best way to treat it, apparently is to prune all the galls off the tree and destroy, but see if anybody else pipes up:thumbup:

  14. ah, it just doesn't come across that way in your original post. As others have stated try to wean a little information at a time or explain your background and what you are trying to achieve, not just BAM and expect all the answers:001_smile: It is all well and good collating research but when you ask other to do all the leg-work for you some, or in this case i feel most, are not willing to participate:001_rolleyes: Not trying to put a downer on things, just being pragmatic and trying to give you a little helpful advice from a frequent forum user:thumbup:
  15. Just out of curiosty then, how come you are doing an arb degree? Shouldn't you at least be working in the industry? Thats what i was told when applying anyway:biggrin:

  21. A lot! I've got most field guides by differnet authors but the Alan mitchell 1973 edition and owen johnson (collins, 2006) one are good ones to have I've got a big book of leaves of the world, a book on conifers of the world, some FC booklets and am waiting on a new book that hasn't been published yet which you can find on most good tree book sellers like treesource or summerfield books or abebooks I also spend stupidly copious amounts of my time now learning the different botanical features of species by visiting woodlands, parklands, botanical gardens and arboretums and am currently building my own tree identification database (eventually this will become a website and phone app in a few years) Its just a case of practice, practice, practice which is why i started this thread so i could do exactly that:biggrin:
