  1. Good call:thumbup: but is has been mentioned about berries which the Holm Oak does not have
  2. At the moment possible suspects could be Ilex dipyrena - Himalayan Holly Ilex x beanii - A cross between the Himalayan and our own native holly It could even be a Prunus caroliniana but i doubt it if you say its got berries like Holly
  3. its not ilex latifolia - Tarajo, the leaves aren't big enough A few questions What was the bark like? What are the buds like? What is the bud arrangement on the stem? Do the leaves give off a distinctive smell when crushed? Have you got any more pics or pics less blurry? I'll do my best to ID it for you:biggrin:
  4. Shouldn't we all be arborists? I mean we all work in the arboriculture industry... Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  8. That was easy, tis the flowers I'm struggling with. There are lots of newly planted wollemi's planted in ness gardens and I even have a picture of the sphreical fruit on the chomp at home, plus there's a biggish one at capel manor I remember seeing when down there earlier this year. I'm no stranger to the wollemi:thumbup: Now, back to the one I can't get..... Yet! Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  9. You've got Wollemia nobilis Picea breweriana And argh..! I'm stuck on the flowery one:confused1: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII

  11. I look forward to it:001_tt2:
  12. Technically (not one to be pedantic:lol:), but Crataegus persimilis 'Prunifolia' IS crataegus prunifolia splendens:001_tt2:
  13. First one i'm going to go with Crataegus persimilis 'Prunifolia' and the second is a pure guess with Fagus sylvatica 'Dawyck Purple'
  14. As stated earlier Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  15. yes there are just sooo many
  16. OOOOooooo a new one i want! thanks army bloke:lol:
  17. Last that last one was a bit tricky, don't think i would of got the pacific madrone at a guess, and would of took me a while in the books and on google ID:lol: Glad i got the others though:thumbup:
  18. Best one for price, what you are asking for and ease of use is the collins field guide by Owen johnson (2006) [ame=http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/0007207719?ie=UTF8&tag=thewootru-21&linkCode=as2&camp=1634&creative=19450&creativeASIN=0007207719]Collins Tree Guide: Amazon.co.uk: Owen Johnson: Books[/ame] But as janey states, you will end up buying them ALLLLLLL...!!
  19. Your home country was kind of a give away:thumbup: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  20. Ok, here goes... Without the I'd books as I'm at work so.. Acer beurgerianum Albizia julibrissin Eucalyptus deglupta My best guesses? Thanks janey:thumbup: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  21. definitely Viburnum opulus or Taxus baccata Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  22. Leaves are definitely "cut" and have an alternate phyllotaxy, so not Acer, not Fagus either and Alnus cut leaves look a bit like Quercus, so... I'd guess with the only other cut-leaved variety I know - Betula pendula 'Dalecarlica' Nice one Xerxes:thumbup: Sent from Rob's GalaxySII
  23. yes gorse - Ulex europaeus they are prone to failure at the rootplate though
  24. haha big clue, thanks! Prunus 'Royal Burgundy' And on that note i need some zeds, cheers for that gollum, feel free to post more, and anyone else too:thumbup:
  25. I'd go with Prunus sargentii or Prunus 'Kanzan', more the latter than the former but have a feeling i may be wrong
