  1. Do ya get to hang out there often? The term "garage" doesn't really cover it, does it? I will console myself that, although I doubt very much that I will be seeing them on any of their UK dates this year, I did get to see DG when he was in that little, unknown band Nirvana. Enjoy MK. Jelous, moi? Only loads
  2. You're not wrong there! I'd be very interested to see the stat's for the percentage of London trees, especially in Inner London, that are Planes. I bet it's well above the 30-20-10 model.
  3. Ditto that. Unfortunately

    oak out!

I've seen plenty of breaking oak buds already. The incredibly warm past week has brought things on rapidly. Incidently, the first emerging OPMs were reported nearly two weeks ago and they are reliant on oak buds being open so they can feed.
  5. That's an interesting theory. It's not something I've seen myself here in London where we get very heavy infestations. I had it in the dark recess of my memory that the adults don't actually feed. This seems to be backed up with the following snippet taken from the NHM 'site: "The adult lives for a few days, and although it has a developed proboscis, there are no published observations of adults feeding." (Biology | Natural History Museum)
  6. Strangely enough I was looking at getting tickets for them at Milton Keynes earlier today. Not a snowball's chance I soon realised I haven't heard the new album yet. It hasn't had the best reviews but I'm still looking forward to listening to it, either with or without mysterious bits of tape
  7. That's what we have obliging AT members to be used and abuse for
  8. I've been having a look through Kew Garden's itinerary and found the above that may be of interest to some: Kew Guided Tours - Tree Identification There's also a tree photography course at the end of May: What's On - Photographing Trees Course
  9. On the odd occasion I've ventured into the world of "Chat", I was all on my lonesome in there. And although chatting to one's self is not impossible, it's not exactly healthy either
  10. I find my stained glass qual's really useful in my day-to-day tree work Like a lot of people on here, I have various practical, theory and professional arb' qual's backed up with a fair bit of experience. I don't think you can do the job well with only paper qual's or experience: I think you need a good balance of both.
  11. I know all things mycological are notorious for doing things out of charactor, but is it usual to see P squ' fruiting at this time of year?
  12. ... If you want to be a courier. You won't fit many 200t's on the back of your Raleigh
  13. Hi Sasha, the job centre only has a tiny percentage of the arb' jobs available out there and their search system is totally useless! I'd suggest a quick trawl through Yell.com to find out where your nearest tree surgery firms are based and then get busy calling them all to offer your services. Most people in the tree work world are generally pretty helpful and if they can't give you any immediate work will try to give you a bit of advice and the contact details of anyone they know who IS recruiting. Or that's what I have found. A good attitude and a willingness to start at the bottom and learn are very good selling points for you. You can also try these 'sites (if you are not already aware of them): Arbjobs.com | find Arb jobs / Tree work Overview - Arboricultural Association Complete Tree Care Arboricultural Recruitment Horticulture Jobs - for Garden Centre Jobs, Landscape Jobs, Arboriculture Jobs & Gardening Jobs Arboricultural/Arb jobs. Igneous Recruitment - Job Search | Corporate Social Responsibility Jobs | CSR Manager Jobs Good luck
  14. Interesting little plot twist at the end of the pilot. How's our protagonist going to get out of that one? One thing that I've always wondered though - why don't Zombies eat other Zombies? Is there an unspoken (obviously, as they can't speak) dining ettiquette amongst the undead?
  15. Ditto that . What a fantastic place to work.
  16. Love those adventitious roots on the willows
  17. Oooh, that's ANCIENT. I can't imagine ever being that old Many happys for next week and you iminent long days on the golf course:thumbup:
  18. So did my Dad!!! Are you retired as well?
  19. Perfect for those rainy days drive by tree inspections What's the magnification power on the new lens?
  20. It started very much like a US version of 28 Days Later. It seems quite good so far, but it hasn't brought much, if anything, new to the genre. Think I'll stick with it now there's no Shameless to full my need for late night TV.
  21. One does have standards, you know. They're just not always that high . I could say I'd go up on't' bike, but the reality of my fair weather, lazy arsh bikerness is that I'm far more likely to get there if I bundle in with yous lot. The risk being that I may suffer from information overload before we've even got there.
  22. janey

    My project....

Now that's a nice bit of kit . Why don't you hijack that and get a cutie classic caravan, like a Safari, to live in?
  23. Thanks hon . That's me 100% then. Your car's not too shabby for me LoL x
  24. If some kindly and unsuspecting soul will take pity on me and give me a lift then I'm in . Thanks for doing the running around for us all and getting this trip organised Ham'.
  25. Well if you would kindly let us know about these things, then we might just do that Be careful what you wish for though!
