  1. Camborne is Duchy College, but Kernow Training doalot of their training on the grounds of the college. Its a way from plymouth though, so not really relevant enough to the original post I would imagine.
  2. Makita all the way. Li-ion battery. They will go on and on and on and on when all the others have given up the ghost, including bosch and poncy chippies' festoool. Hilti have a no questions asked lifetime warranty in their favour though. Screw fix are very pricey.

Oh god here we go again...another thread full of hear-say and supposition.....
  4. Get over yourselves- if they were getting rid of it and concreting over the site fair enough- be annoyed, upset whatever. I am sure that this is essential and being done with the utmost respect.
  5. Nowt wrong with jap larch fo firewood. Probably almost identical to euro larch TBH. The main difference between the two is more apparent when milling for timber.

    vermeer 935i

Yeah further to earlier posts re the engine, I can confirm that it IS the deutz 3 cylinder.....its what I have and looks identical.

    vermeer 935i

It should be well worth that sort of money, despite its slightly scabby exterior, which IMO is not all that bad really. It is still a very very capable machine that just need a lick of paint. When has a thread NOT turned into a healthy debate BTW?

    vermeer 935i

Not too bad. It'll still happily do 50 mph like that. Its a very 'prepared' work vehicle. It was the death knell for the rather elderly shocks though....which i replaced with terra firmas:thumbup1:

    vermeer 935i

About that.....just shy of 3.6 cubic metres of hardwood chip in that box...

    vermeer 935i

No you dont:confused1: I put mine up behind the defender no problem. Awesome machines, as are all vermeers:thumbup1:
  11. It was an adjustment as teh chip wasnt flying as far as it ought to. The diesel revs slower than the original petrol did. I eventually had a bigger pulley fited, and put the spout back to where it should have been, and the chip went miles after that.
  12. Did you see the ghosts while you were cutting that tree Rupe? Its supposed to be haunted that Banqueting hall!!!
  13. A pole saw would be a very good idea.
  14. TCD, you just won the lottery then mate? Good effort:thumbup1:
  15. You have a great machine there, which will serve you well for years if you so wish. They are the most overengineered machines i have ever come across.... For bearings and belts etc use Brammer. Vermeer are extortionate on parts. Here are my old 620 which i had for about 8 years and fitted a 32hp deutz diesel to, which was just unstoppable and my present 935i which i resprayed....after lots of teething problems it is now phenomenal....like a vermeer should be IMO they are pretty much the best machines out there.
  16. I live in cornwall and grew up in dorset...... Can i have my trousers now?
  17. Imagine a circle and a square laid on top of each other. The corners of the square are outside the circle, but the straight edges of the square are inside the circle if you can imagine it. It allows for the buyer to pay less for the slab wood/ waste, yet the seller to be compnsated somewhat for the fact that teh buyer isnt buying every last scrap of wood in the log:
  18. What an excellent thread. Rarely does one get to see the progression of a trainee/ apprentice etc etc, and pics up to the usual high standard too. Nice one David. After a stressful day moving house, a fine way to take my mind off things. Thanks, and best of luck to young Tom. .
  19. No it doesnt...that is basically the point of hoppus foot, otherwise we would all be using top diameter, as in softwoods. The measurement is MQG squared in inches, times the length in feet of the log, divided by 144. Its the fairest way to both the buyer and seller.
  20. That is awesome Josh. Way cooler than a mog i reckon!!!
