  1. In as big a piece as possible for milling, and hire/borrow something with hydraulics! If its not suitable for milling then rings or handleable chunks. poor old landy.
  2. Here's one from lounge. Not sure which side of the house counts as front though- we're in the middle of 35 acres, so i took one facing the lane in. Bit messier than yours dean! And its made me see how long the grass has got:thumbdown:
  3. Woke up late- 8.20!!!! Then back to workshop to finish off marathon landy birthday of new transfer box, radius arm bushes, anti-squeal pads, new mud shield on back left hub and a heap of oils seals!:001_smile:Then tidy workshop and off to lug some granite about and turn it into a wall. Roast beast for sups. Happy days.
  4. Found the remains of an old gate hanging with the bandsaw once.........pretty much in the centre of a 3' diameter oak log!!
  5. Great post Janey!! Made me chuckle.

    What boots

Haix all the way- 2 years from my last pair, although they were very uncomfortable when i finally did change them, but still in one piece.
  8. A pair of army lightweights over the top of ballistics will make them last years, and when they do go at the crotch it doesnt matter!
  9. The idea of giving everyone on the electoral role £10,000 was mooted in parliament a few months ago. The reason given for not doing it? "The general public would not know how to responsibly deal with that kind of money"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Line 'em up and shoot 'em.
  10. Just checked out the link- some massive bits of tree in those pics, and the timber has an amazing grain pattern.
  11. Thank you mdvaden. Totally awesome photo's, I love 'em:001_tt1: That near you I take it? What a massive tree. Beautiful flower and cool salamander. Thanks alot!
  12. Was having this conversation with someone down here last week. Not long was the answer we came up with. There was allegedly a waiting list for stoves in some places a few months back!!
  13. Another downside to having the chipper on full revs all the time as in a situation you described (alleyway..) is that you have less chance of catching the attention of a groundie, and from my pooint of view the constant hum of a machine allbeit at a distance and wearing eardefenders is exhausting. There may be several minutes while the groundy is busy during which its not worth throttling down or switching off the machine, but it is still not actually chipping. Those numerous occasions are when such a device would really come into its own.
  14. You've got a massive ring!!!:001_tt2:
  15. Did all but te centre ligaments in my ankle when i was about 18 and had a cast put on it and minimal physio. It still gets sore now(i'm 35). I have physio on my spine most weeks, and can only say that if i had had physio on my ankle i reckon it would be a load better now. Get well soon mate, and dont skimp on the physio excercises. Good luck mate.
  16. Interesting points there- i know what you mean about books- in two different books the colour and shape of s.latifolia leaves appears different, and looking at the pic in the book in your post he image is slightly different again. I would say that the broadness of the lower part of the s.latifolia seems a little more pronounced than on the leaf you have photo'ed, which seems to turn in more at the bottom- more oval as opposed to wider toward the base. Also, are the indents forming the lobes pronounced enough to be s.latifolia. Books!:confused1:Maybe it is a local variant?
  17. Real shame. Great pic, any more/- i cant make out the rocket fin from here. Massive tree!
