  1. What the person with the wood is gettibng as an incentive is your time and effort, which saves them paying somebody hundreds to do the job, regardless of the wood IMO. Fair enough if you are happy with the sums you outline above Rob, but for 1.5 days felling work i would want over double that, and even though you have a burr log, which yiou can get a table wiorth £600 from, you will be only getting that money once you have sawn, stacked, stored, kilned, sanded and finished the WHOLE table, which TBH makes £600 sound VERY cheap to me. So to get 850, you have probably spent near 1000....?
  2. Yeah- missed the vocation bit:confused1: I still disagree with your last statemnet though......red tape or no, saving peoples lives isSURELY more important than obeying orders isnt it?
  3. Too late- ive got me guns and im off....... :lol:No worries. I was genuinely confused mind!!
  4. For all you mac products lovers........Guo defends company after suicide cases at Shenzhen factory - CNA ENGLISH NEWS  BTW i have an HTC HD2 and its sh1t.
  5. I think you may be mistaken Dent...i am pretty sure you need v5 plus ID in most places, front or rear. I tried to get one for the chipper and ran into these probs.
  6. Yeah- and weve all seen police camera action with the car thieves- it only takes minutes to get the helicopter up in the air for a stolen car.....
  7. As above. I have had one which is made up of stick on letters for about 5 years. Strictly illegal, but nothing has ever been said.
  8. If you join the police you should join it to uphold the law a safety of the public, and if you cannot do that using the loss of your job as an excuse, then in my opinion you are f-ing spineless. Are you seriously trying to excuse their lack of attempts at action with their potential job loss as a valid reason???????? I very much doubt that they would have lost their jobs if they had stopped him, however they had done it short of causing more death... And of course there shouldnt have been a madman on the loose, but guess what- he was a madman, and NO amount of legislation or anything else will EVER stop that.
  9. If you have to fell and extract it then dont pay a penny- you will have more than paid the woods worth. You also need to get out of buying wood by the ton- only by volume (cubic metre for softwood, cubic Hoppus foot for hardwoods).
  10. Wouldnt touch yell or the yellow pages with Franks.
  11. You should watch JUST the met office- they are generally spot on......or just deal with the rain lol....coz i know you love it.
  12. I agree. I think that is why in this case the spec was fairly exacting, but allowed a useful ammount of leeway; '.....no more than 2 metres' etc, and back to suitable growth points, any more specific would have been unrealistic. We were to deadwood aswell, so that was allowed to be flexible on the branch length etc. Two tree officers climbed this tree so they had a good understanding of its condition.
  13. Thanks for your reply Paul. The spec i put in the thread an extract of an email the TO sent to me to follow, as opposed to my application. We had discussed it on site, and when he emailed it he just said to use it in my aplication. However, i have to admit that i would have probably only submitted something similar to that.... All input gratefully received.
  14. Yeah- it was MEANT to look like this........ but seems to have ended up looking like a tree:confused1:
