  1. If your budget will allow, get at least a ten footer mate. Your vehicle will tow far more than you can put in an 8 footer, and you can get some very tidy 10 footers for around 2k. It depends on budget though really.
  2. I would think, although i am not sure, that you could get yourself or a supplier into lots of trouble with stihl if you did. They can be a bit funny about that sort of thing.....
  3. Those of you who live in town probably dont have the first idea of how dogs and cats act in their natural environment, as they are so confused by all the concrete. Mesterh- i am regularly cleaning up after the cats- whether it be intestines of something unfortunate and fluffy, or her piles of poo that she hides away in obscure recesses of the house from time to time. I NEVER get this with my dogs (i have 4) and as for the dog vs cat argument, there is no comparison- they are TOTALLY different animals.....in every situation and every home that is. It is impossible to generalise about living creatures each with their own unique personality, and they arent 'ours' they just live with us. As for dogs being useless, then i find that to be a most uneducated and useless comment. For me on a fairly remote farm they have many uses. My cat doesnt catch rats, and she doesnt frighten off pikies when they turn up at all hours of the day and night, she just looks beautiful and craps in obscure places. Oh and keeps the dogs fed with rabbit too LOL. As for giving a cat metal legs then IMO that is just cruel, plain and simple, in an attempt to delay dealing with the inevitable; death of a pet. How can anyone think it is kind to condemn an animal such as a cat to a life of limited movement. This is one of the most agile and independant creatures on the planet- giving it a prison sentence for the benefit of the owner is awful.
  4. Biggest dismantle was about 80 foort ash i recon, but the biggest climb was a 145' ish sitka. Measured it to 136' and reckoned there was about 10' left.....it was quite skinny there though so i stopped climbing....
  5. Hahahahaha PMSL nice one Dean:lol:
  6. Very nice rig you have there. That splitter looks very useful.
  7. I reckon that you would get some pretty nice timber TBH mate. There is quite alot of splitting acton. I would take a ring or two off the end to see how far up it goes,, but the wood ought to be stunning.
  8. That reminds me of punishment duty at boarding school- getting up early and cleaning out chicken carcasses before breakfast.....
  9. Excellent saw. Light and powerful, and i reckon a very large proportion of guys on here have one.
  10. Shovelling corn around in the underground hopper when the tractors tipped was fairly nasty, and clearing blocked sewage pipes and tanks on a holiday park wasnt too good either.
  11. that looks like it will stick some work. Nice one. Welcome to A-T too.
  12. Have you not seen builders when they are in the digger??? I have been doing a bit of stonework on and off for the last few weeks on a building sute, and had almost a row with the dickhead digger driver about whether the tree whose roots he had chopped to put a soakaway in would survive or not. Mentioned RPZ etc and he wasnt having any of it....neither was the foreman. Waste of breath. It was only a scabby little radiata, but thats not the point.
  13. There's several in the classifieds mate, like this one Graham Edwards Galvanised 3.5t tipping trailer with mesh sides - Arbtalk Classifieds
  14. Haha I hardly use the alaskan at all nowadays since i bought the bandsaw:001_tongue: I did wonder that myself. And how many aspen users get their fuel paid for by their boss?
  15. Man goes to the Brothel and when asked what he wants he replies 'humiliation'. That'll be £37.50 please sayd the Madam. What do i get for that? An england football shirt ...... sorry, i couldnt resist....
  16. What is this 'spare time' of which you speak?
  17. Given that i smoke, mill timber which is incredibly dusty, cut stone (from areas where arsenic is mined) and breathe in car fumes all day, regularly abuse my health in a million other ways, then this product is either goibng to have to be as cheap or cheaper than normal mix. I cant relate to the headache thing, even after a day on the chainsaw mill. Sorry, but i just dont believe the hype.
  18. Been using copper grease on landy calipers for years with no probs.
  19. There has been a fair biot of rare timber around here over the last few years, from Falmouth dock. I was told exactly the same thing about ballast in the boats etc. I have milled loads of these dock timbers which include greenheart, purpleheart, rosewood, gum and loads of different timbers that have the grain pattern of teak and mahogony, but range in colour from gold to deep brown etc. I doubt I'll see timber like that again, it was beautiful, and incredibly heavy. I have heard of it being turned, but the chainsaw carvers down here say it crackas too much in general.
  20. Not heard of it being carved. It is an extremely rare and hard timber......the utmost care should be exercised when using it, for these reasons.
  21. Can you not save yourself hours of typing by just putting up loads of adverts all over arbtalk with scary titles........soryy- my mistake- you already are!
  22. What sort of legal constraints are there for storing that amount of combustible materials at home?
  23. Welcome to the forum AAOIL....you have now ensured that i will NEVER use aspen.
