  1. I ave been told by FC or somebody who worked for them, thinning size is up to 10cm DBH and does not need planning etc: woodland coppice and such. anything larger requires permission anywhere. Again his seems to come down to who you speak to and which area you live in.
  2. Another thought, being an old git; when I worked in another industry the plebs (us workers) where assessed by the line manager who attended all the courses who then passed on there ultimate knowledge, I thought that this still happens. The last course I went on (WINDBLOWN) I was told that this was ok for being re-assessed,anyway NPTC ASSESSMENT WAS FOR LIFE, I was also told to keep my Blue book? OK I know we have to keep up to the ideas it is for our own good, but let us have some common sense and a level playing field. Remember that Parliament makes the laws not a company making a great deal of money.

  15. I have handled blackthorne being hedge years and not had any problems. I am begining to think on two lines 1) Are the people who suffer allergic to thorne? 2) Having had a thorn through the glove is it the muck and tannings in the glove.
  16. being an old git and like to have good reputation, you should give good advice as you see it. My personal opinion is I prefer to crown lift and thin, If you travel through Northern France, Netherlands, Belgium their policy seems to be the old ways!! I KNOW I KEEP HARPING ON THE OLD WAYS BUT it does work. Pollarding! Yes it does look drastic, But again it works. In towns there are less leaves to block drains, I cannot understand why this country has stopped looking back, YOU HAVE TO LOOK BACK TO SEE WHICH WAY YOU SHOULD GO!? You will and can save trees by Pollarding:confused1:.
