  1. CS 30,31,38,39 and read as much as i can also watch and learn....several years experience with old school cutters inthe woods before doing any of those namby pamby quals was where the real learning happened though.
  2. Woodpicker, I've never bought a new saw actually because you can rebuild them so easily:001_tongue: I have been reading of some crazy milages on these BFG's so i reckon they're worth a shot now are AT's up for some mud? and more importantly horrible greasy clay?
  3. So how are these load handlers getting on now? Still liking them? How well do they work with over 3000lbs on them?
  4. I have seen a lot of truck tires have the entire tread peel off a re tread before, looks grim, but ig uess thats why they don;t put them on drive axles on trucks now. I have also perosnallypexpoerience d ablow out...on a Michelin as it happens and it wasn't too pleasent. Think I'm gonna seek out a few cheap BFG AT KO's. They get alot of good reviews but don;t look aggressive enough to be of much use to me?
  5. ah, i wasn't aware there was a differnce, the majority of the tires on ebay are re treads...Not good. BFG's are rediculously expensive thoug, i'll check out the coopers. The hankook Mt's I have atm seem ok also.
  6. I've been looking around for some new tires for the dodge, got my eye on a few used sets of hankook's and BFG's but have also noticed some nice looking remoulds mainly copying the bfg MT and AT patterns these are coming in at about £250 a set new, only thing i'm not sure of is the load rating, none of the auctions mention this do any of you guys run 4x4 tippers on remoulds and know how they cope with 3.5t+ on them? I'm gyuessing its probably a bit of a no no...But thought i'd ask just in case:001_tt2:
  7. its a Dodge Ram 2500 8ft by 6ft ish bed like a crew cab transit tipper. I'd just use th ebase of the bed then build chequer plate high sides. However i am toying with the idea of making the stock body tip as its the same size... Depends what numbers come up here.
  8. I'm looking to convert my pick up to a tipper soon and was trying to figure out what it iwll weigh, not that it matters. I know a few guys on here have done some fairly extensive rebuilds on their trucks so does anyone have a figure for a tipping body with or without hydraulics? with or without sides etc, just need a figure i can work out the rest with the materals i'm going to use. Thanks, Bill
  9. Why fit the transit cab and leave the awful mog dash inthere...might as well kept it looking like a MOg instead of just another boring old transit but bigger. Shocking that it only has a 5cyl diesel from the old sprinters too, they're good in a 3.5t panel van but for a mog seems alil small to me, they don't all have them do they?
  10. Thats a surprise, I was tught and assesed being told 15 minutes...40 would be rediculous. Whole things a goodidea, but no one ever really gets rescued so it'd cause alot of grief for everyone to help inasituation that will probably never arise imo.
  11. Excellent, sounds liek a rare decent one not on a power trip. Bet you were over the moon with that!
  12. So treeclimber, what van or truck do you run, just out of interest
  13. Get a bar on the end to go along the branch then ratchet straps
  14. I know several hgv drivers and mechanics and it goes on a lot there are ways to stop these things. And a 50t artic is nothing to worry about, some of those units are built to haul twice that and do elsewhere. But that's all irrelevant the real point is they hardly ever stop 'accidents waiting to happen' just give people Grief over minor problems....or not, I got checked in a Vito a while back which had the brakes hanging out of it, no pads left and seriously scored discs to match, bug all 4 of them noticed was a cracked indicator lense!
  15. I've actually found it quite good I've been online less than a month with the book yet to go out and already received two or three enquiries from it
  16. GOD YOUR CLEVER!!! no I just type them a little slower and take care. Yaffle tree's, Indeed i am noticing this pattern, it is somewhat annoying!
  17. Fair point and if they just targeted real threats like that it would be great, but the majority of their time is takne up harassing people with generally pretty safe vehicles breaking stupid rules i.e eveyrone's 3.5t tippers that are overloaded, they take 4t+ perfectly safely it really doesn't matter...but the unlucky ones still cop fines for it. They can;t even touch anyone pulling a double or speeding excessivley uina big truck as its all too easy to cover up... So, as ever the authorites just pick on the decent members of sociaety slightly beidng the rules rather than the scum completely disregarding them!
  18. Same everywhere i guess, I am finding most my jobs fomr advertising i seem to be competing with people who are desperate, Even my new slightly lower prices (after a string of no up takes) are getting udnercut and the jobs seem to get done within the week of me quoting! its rediculous!
  19. 1200 a year double quarter column in black and yellow, two areas covered on yell.com too, seems to be working so far, rep was fit too
  20. Ah well nevermind it's bringing lots of the right calls in too
  21. Bang on! Is this what happens when you go in yellow pages?
  22. I received a call from a company calling themselves the emergency services press/excel publishing offering me a full page in their magazine which also highlighted current fire police and ambulance service priorities/events for £195, claiming they send out 80,000 copies every 3 mo the in my area. I let them email me some info and i have been invoiced. I think it's a scam, i havnt signed anything or given any details so I'm not too worried, but wondered has anyone else been taken down a similar road?
  23. Get it done most mechanics and motor trade people know very little beyond the basics so just say it's all bad as they are scared of what they don't know...try asking them about bio fuel, full of **** about that too. A good remap by a reputable firm will only improve your vehicle- FACT
  24. put in perforated pipe, surounded by gravel topped with soil run right through the damp area nd out to somewhere that doesn't matter or dig a soakaway for it to drain into. depending on how bad it is you may need quite a few
