  1. look at all your options, ow you normally work then hire din bigger plant and or chippers etc and figure out whats gonna do the job with the best balance on cost and profit...Thats your option and price. With no detial regarding disposal or not of chip and wood no ones going to give you a figure that means anything.
  2. Yeah but you need all that stuff anway for most job's, unlike a landscaping job where you'd be buying 100 tons of top soil, 30 new tree's, a few hundred bricks and everything in between whichwould more than likely not be needed for anothe rjob for ages. all our kit is used pretty much everyday so its not the same imo. However if you can get away with locking people down with a deposit, why not at least you know you have the job.
  3. Whats the point, we are pretty much a llabour only trade, so you lose nothing but profit if they decide not to use you. IMO asking for money up front for tree work would just make you seem like a pushy traveller type.
  4. Why's that so funny? Thats what we do most days isn't it? Fair play to him, worth a try:laugh1:
  5. My Dad does this also from time to time, no harm in it a you say with the right PPE and some guidance.
  6. Some of the criticism's wer eunfair... like not recognising tyhe tree with no leaves..it happens but doesn;t make you a cowboy. and dixing up inthe back of the truck, if your wearing full PPE not a problem really...Every tree busness can't have at least £3k+ worth of chipper right from the start can it...so its just anaother way of getting the job done. However his method's of sellingthe work tot he customers were disgraceful, I can;t believe they took it. As for th epricing if they're stupid enough to accept his crazy quotes they deserve to pay them, its not hard to get a few more quotes in and a good idea, specially if the first is off a pushy scare mongering ***** like that!

    Which pickup?

only a landrover, Hi lux or American pick up will give you a decent load space inthe bed...the maerican by far the most, and also will pull the most, with ease. But if that's not a conern then you they're much of a muchness imo. The onyl thing i will say is th ernager's are plagued with problemsdue to design faults and are horrible to work on./..My friend works at a Big ford commercial dealership and ones that work ae ina nd out of there all the time, They like a clutch! I say get something LHD with a massive diesel in it
  8. What he siad, Otterbox Defender+ Iphone, you'd have to try vey hard to break one once it's in there....just look at the example son youtube!`
  9. ...However for stuff like moving a truck a few miles I find it best to have lots of friends with trucks, and always keep a bit of rope handy.
  10. AA personis membe rnot vehcile anything up to 3.5t...maybe more but i;ve not had anything bigger. they've moved everything from ford fiesta to my Dodge no questions asked. but they can;t move stuff on the lorry if its opver loaded as they'll only lift 3.5t...so they know if your having them on or not lol.
  11. Ah Yeah i can see that guess it drag's most of it outas it clings together. I'm just a bit aprehensive as my pickup holds more like a a transit load of chip than a typical pick up load. and I don't want to get something that wont do it.
  12. Just saw your video, looks good, but doesn;t seemt o be loads of chip in there, would it be able to offload say 5 cube? Also how can one size fit all when some beds are substantially wider, than others? Also any tips for getting this guy to answer the phone, i've rang him loads and left a messages and got nothing back
  13. I got done by themw ith this, but after a few hours reading T and C's it was ismple to get out of. I piad htem £1400 up front wanted to cancel a month in, and they would only refund me £650!! All you have to do is ask them to insure a vehicle that your current policy cannot cover, I had a modified car policy on a 200SX so i asked them to switch it to my transit...This meant we had ende done policy, with no fee's and started a new commercial policy. So new transi tpolicy was about £100 less, i got that refunded. I then took advantage of their 14 days no questions no fee's cancellations rule and asked them to cancel about 5 minutes later job done all money back bar a £40 'admin fee'. If you google adrian flux car forums are rife with people winging about this happening to them.
  14. in my, albiet extrmeely limited experience talking to the talk seems to get bullshitters everywhere. As once they're in eveyrone is too polite to bring mention that they're not backing it up with walking the walk, So if your half decent get used to telling people, I reckon!
  15. Paper, matches a few good dry bit's start small and grow it once it's got nice and hot anything will burn...Standard.
  16. None! They got my address wrong, rang me aplogised for having sent them to the wrong person...Then still didn't send me any. However i've never been asked to prodfuce proof of any qualifications.
  17. What's everyones opinion of the Hankook Dynapro MT RY03? I have some very worn one son at the moment, but my tire man showed me some new ones last week and they looked awesome, better equipped to deal with mud than the BFG AT's but still not too noisy looking, if ya know what i mean. Thats quite surpridsing what you say about the At's in clay!
  18. Dind;t see it, but he is awesome, its a great show!
  19. Its all about the rnetal washing machine chuck everything in it just how it came off site/track
  20. Even with greedy boards? if that's fine i'll order one next week:thumbup1:
  21. so are you guyd speculating it wont move a large load of wet chip...Or is that fact? Good to hear the one for the Ram is in steel but will the English importer stock it
  22. very common I think you'll fiond my Yell rep pretty much told me i'd be silly not to do it, eople liek to get the 'local guy' in, kinda sad in a way.
  23. Seem's alright, I don;t mind having to kick out afew odd left over as long as the bulk of it get's dragged out, i was worried with larger umps of timber they may pint he sheet down and tear it or just make it impossible to wind it along, but if its working all good for you thats alright:001_smile: how's the sheet holding up? is ity easy to replace or something you need to go back to the seller for? Also do you know what one would cost for a 8' bed? I rang John earlier but got no answer.
  24. Me too but 3000lbs is only about 1300kg which i can easily exceed...Anyway How are you getting on with it with whatever sort of loads your unloading with it?
