Fair point, I guess I presume he has some sort of yard to consider and he hasn't stated turnover if you're doing enough work then I can see a van and chipper set up starting to cost a lot to run as it becomes inefficient, I certainly spent a lot more on diesel and repairs before I got set up with my lorry, so yeah if he's quite busy with a fair advertising spend that figure seems alright.

Carriage of own goods, as the chip is then yours and. Onones going to come after you for damaging it in a crash or fire. -
Bigger is invariably better, we have 3 chippers from a 6"TW to a bandit 90 and everyone prefers the bandit hands down the more power to pull and chip and bigger indeed the better saves shedding and wrestling them in. But I think size of the opening is the key thing really stress control cutting in can be tedious but when stuff just won't fit is when it really gets frustrating.

I don't tend to do mates rates, for s good friend I will work for free and they will do the same for me as most of them have useful skills, otherwise it's just going rate....which will be as if it's quoted and travelled to and from as no one else is there at the time so don't need to compete on a "while your here" basis.

This. The way I see it Stubby, is if you didn't happen to be ideally situated to do the job on your way home etc then they would need to have someone come and quote and schedule it into a days work somewhere, making it worth the sort of money I quoted above. The fact it can be done in 20 minutes on the way past simply makes it much better for the contractor, the price is still fair. No different IMO to a better equipped outfit doing half a days work for £1000.00 that a lesser firm may have wanted £1200 to spend two days on...just making the best of the circumstances.

£150-£200 with or without stump, don't know why anyone would do a job for less.

The AAAC scheme seems quite scalable from what I've seen reading through the notes, would take a little effort to make sure everything is fully compliant at all times but no real bother and certainly not too costly IMO. If it's too much you can get on CHAS, safe contractor etc for a few hundred to any decent H&S consultant or even spend some time providing the necessary documents yourself.

Wouldn't the predator 38x/rx be a good machine at this size/ price point ? I've been looking at them recently and on paper they appear to be a good compromise for access and presumably retain pretty good performance as they're still belt drive. Anyone got experience with them ?

Been looking into this recently, as I am in a similar position with no fibre but also found this company called vfastinternet who provide wireless internet who are worth a look as it's a quick service but considerably cheaper.

Skidster, works well, great for moving brush and only a meter wide but can't lift big stuff anywhere near as well as a Vermeer or ditch witch, however they're less than half the price...

Decent gardeners earn £18p/h, mine does anyway...but he is very knowledgable and been trained properly etc.

Measured in feet, it may be a bit bigger, didn't want to exaggerate! It's heating a 3-4 bed bungalow at present.

Hi I've found this log burning boiler set up on a job, can anyone tell me anything about it ? The boiler sits next to a big cylinder maybe 7x3. Not sure on age would like to know if it could run heating and hot water

Vat rate for firewood sale to pubs - recent changes

I was under the impression, domestic heating fuel qualified for the lower rate. So charge at 20% to pubs....I expect they pay 20% on their heating oil also for this reason. -
Wind breaks are great as they will go up and down slopes etc with ease. Or pedestrian Highway barriers with a curtain or tarp thrown over the top of there nothing to dig the wind breaks into

Get the pros in, no point spending much more time than them to do a worse job.
