  1. Same here. I find the weather up here plays an important role in organising my workload. If it's too bad, I simply don't work. You can't predict the weather, hence its a call to customers over the previous weekend or the night before.
  2. Splitting hairs, but it's just over £2100 for the higest band in K&C. Just checked. I pay just over £2000 for a band E bungolow in the Yorkshire Dales. Probably time there was a reassessment of council tax rates and brackets. Saying that, if it was free, I still wouldn't want to live anywhere in London.
  3. So, you work hard all your life. Save some money for a rainy day. Hopefully leave a bit to the kids. And get penalised for it. Meanwhile, your lazy neighbour sits on his backside all his life. Never has a job, gets everything for free. Including a larger pension than you get? I know these examples are at extreme ends of the scale, but surely that can't be right?
  4. My son is going to study full time at myerscough this year. FdSc Arboriculture. Just wondered if anyone else on here is doing the same course?
  5. I think we all agree with that.
  6. And this book contains what some people think they are entitled to.
  7. The Tories got roughly 40 seats more than comrade Corbyn. Not a great result for them, but some people seem to think Corbyn came out on top. He didn't. I'm no Tory fanatic, and I think somebody could do a better job than May, but I'm struggling to think of anybody who would do a worse job than Corbyn, Watson, Abbott etc. This country needs strong leadership to battle with the EU bullying buerocrats. Like I say, I don't think May is the best for this job. And if I'm honest, I'm not sure which of the Tory potential leadership candidates would be best, but the left wing alternative would have been a disaster for the country.
  8. Solo leak after a year or two. I'm using berthoud at the moment. Had them for a few years now. No complaints and no leaks. A better sprayer than solo and a far better sprayer than cooper pegler.
  9. I once bought a cheap solo type sprayer having used solo sprayers in the past. Was a load of rubbish compared to the proper solo. Wouldn't buy another. But, for that price it just might suit you if only occasional use.
  10. Totally agree. No chemicals are safe. What I meant was, that it wasn't banned due to concerns over its use on bracken. I spend most of late July and early August spraying bracken on moorland. I'm ultra careful when spraying, always using a marker dye. Any split shows up blue. Always washing overalls and clothes every night after use. You can never be too careful.
  11. I don't think the safety of asulox was ever in doubt. It's being aerial sprayed for decades. The reason it was banned was because for some reason, it was sprayed on spinach crops. This was banned, by the EU, in turn resulting on it being banned for bracken and dock control as well. In fact, I think it's still banned for use on docks
  12. Started in forestry at 15 in 1985. Was the first job I was offered. Then went to college for 3 years. Myerscough and Houghall and started up own small business in 1995. Still doing it now.
  13. Agree with everything you've said. Especially about Corbyn. Why aren't you a fan of bringing in the military?. Personally, I would like to see the military become more involved at times of unrest. The army etc is still to pay whether training, at war or helping with disaster relief.
  14. Eating my lettuce now. Potatoes, beetroot, onions, parsnips doing ok. And of course, got 14 tomato plants in greenhouse, coming along. Growing pak choi for first time, along with a few herbs. Peas a disaster
  15. totally agree. ive been in some of the worst. my mate used to have an Allegro. one of the worst cars ive ever been in.
  16. Last year around this time I felt elated. We were leaving the EU, the economy was plodding along ok, and Corbyn was promising things he couldn't deliver. I don't see too much has changed. I'm not May's biggest fan, but I believe she or her tory replacement can still get a good deal in Brexit talks. Don't forget,Germany exports around 750000 cars a year to Britain. Both need some kind of deal. If a deal can't be agreed, then we should walk away, and establish our own trade deals. Corbyn would have been a disaster in Brexit talks. Too many people want to see Brexit and this country fail. There must be some positives living here? plenty of people risk their lives trying to get here. And plenty of people gave their lives so we can live as we do.
  17. Congratulations, your now qualified to run for Tory MP of Sudbury.
  18. Thanks. The funny thing is i've never actually owned a dog, but our house was it's second home. In-fact, i'm sure it sometimes thought it lived here.
  19. Section e, of the link explains how the pay structure works.
  20. Pay point scale goes up one point for each year served. (I think)
  21. So, after 7 years, he's going to be on around £40,000 a year. I don't find that too bad for a constable. He may also have the option of promotion, where the wage naturally goes up. However, I've never lived in London and had to pay London prices.
  22. Sorry Dan, but I Just can't face watching it. It will just make my blood boil even more. Hope you can understand.
  23. And a few hours later, he's changed his mind.
  24. So the speaker of the house, the one and only John Bercow, gets re-elected as an MP with no opposition parties opposing him. Surely that can't be right?
  25. Hi eggs, of course we wouldn't get that response time where I live. I wouldn't expect anyone there for at least half an hour. My point was that a response time of 8 minutes is excellent. Would spending more money on the police have got them there any quicker? I doubt it. Would spending more money have prevented the attack? Well, that's debatable.
