Your always going to get loads of different answers when you ask a question like this. A lot depends on the level of risk you want with any savings. a cash isa is safe, but pays rubbish interest rates. a stocks and shares isa is riskier and you may lose money. Stock markets are at all time highs at the moment, and many predict a correction happening. if you start a personal pension, you can manage that yourself if you feel competent. This is called a SIPP. I do this and invest in funds mostly. Perhaps the safest way to invest in shares and funds is to drip feed your money each month. Or you could just put it in the bank, and use it when needed. Deciding on your level of risk is the first thing to do. Once you answer this, your half way there. Hope this helps.

Not got one, but mine stopped working and it was replaced by a newer TW no stress. Works fine now.

There's been a conservative club in the small market town where I live, for as long as I can remember., but a few years ago, it dropped the word conservative. Was also a liberal club.

Defiantly not Swedish whitebeam. I will take a photo of the tree next week. Might help a bit. There's a couple of them growing in an old Victorian garden.

Not a tree I see very often in the Yorkshire Dales, but am I right in thinking this is Sorbus torminalis? Tree was about 50ft high, rough bark on lower bole.

Use aspen in my hedge trimmers. Didn't know they did chain oil.

I know its an old thread, but i'm working on a road bend shortly. Traffic lights job (40mph legal limit). does anyone else take into account chainsaw chain oil getting on the road whilst cutting or am I still a bit OCD? bikers uphere are a bit wild

Friday, im going with a group of mates for the third golfing break of the year. Weekend in Leeds. Probably have another one in Liverpool in September. Group of mates, a few beers and a takeaway. What more could you ask for?

I'm left handed, and have always started all saws, strimmers etc with my left hand. If two of us are chipping, I always stand on the right hand side and chuck the branches in , mainly with my left hand. Funny thing this hand thing. If playing cricket, I would bowl left handed, and bat right handed. I play golf right handed, but play snooker, and darts left handed. Perhaps, that's why I'm no good at any of them!!!

If your interested, I have a branch logger for sale due to no longer selling firewood. It's in immaculate condition. SMH70. Done under 500 nets from new. Always being stored in garage -
This is my first post on the new site. Got to say, I preferred the old style site. Seemed a lot simpler to use. This seems a bit more cluttered and complicated to navigate. Maybe it's me not taking enough time to work things out? However, I know it cost a few thousand, and I know Steve must have done it for the better. So,I'll persevere.

Good bench grinder and a jig. I've sharpened mine for the last 12 years. Father in law is a joiner and had a good grinder and jig. TW blades. -

Just finished reading 'Forgotten Highlander' a book about a scots experiences as a POW of the Japanese. Read the whole book in a day. One of the best and most moving books I've read in ages. Highly recommended. Taken prisoner, starved almost to death, tortured, suffered with cholera, dysentery, Beri Beri, malaria. Transported in a death ship and sunk by the Americans, survived for 5 days adrift on the ocean. Finally, transported to Japan. Nagasaki of all places, where he experienced the dropping of the atomic bomb. If you get the chance, give it a read, and remember what some people went through for our freedom.

Missed that one!!! I also find that by concentrating, I can make the ringing louder.

I'm wondering if tinnitus can be in part psychological? I only become aware of the ringing if I think about it, or am reminded of it. I'd never thought about it for months, and as soon as I read this post, I can hear it. Anyone else experience this?

Taken a look at Zelkova Serrata and the leaves do look a bit like those. Still not sure though

To be honest, the bark did seem a bit 'beech like', if it is Nothofagus it's the first one I've seen in the Dales or since leaving college over 20 years ago.

Ok, I'm quite good with my tree indents usually, but this one has me a little stumped. Both sides of leaf are rough to the touch. The twig, together with the rough leaves remind me of elm, or perhaps zelcova. Defiantly not Swedish whitebeam, before anyone says that.
