  1. Well, I've never heard of him to be honest. Seems quite blues based that particular song. Not quite my cup of tea, but I'm sure many people like it and I'm not going to knock it. Anyone who can appear on stage, singing and playing guitar is a proper musician in my eyes.
  2. Going back to the 60s. Love The Seekers. Oh, what a voice you were blessed with, Judith Durham.
  3. In my area I'd use rabbit spirals to protect against rabbits and voles. But, sometimes, it's better to just do as your asked!
  4. If it's in grass, I screef before I plant (removed sod with spade) I'd be further up towards a £1. But it depends on a number of the factors already mentioned, and of course how much you want to make from the job.
  5. What size trees your planting, and ground conditions (rocky, full of stones etc) I'd take both these into account before deciding a price. Personally, I think that price is a bit too low. It's probably a bit late this season, unless your planting cell grown etc
  6. Do a bit of detecting myself. You never know what your about to dig up. Glass and farmers syringes are the worst for me. Always wear gloves. However, did find a mortar bomb whilst tree planting at a quarry once. Smacked it with my spade and said to my mate, 'what do you think this is?' Oops, finished work early, quarry closed and bomb squad out.
  7. No more Radio 2 for me, I'll be following Ken Bruce to Greatest Hits Radio in April. 2 is rubbish now, and it's only going to get worse. Or perhaps I'm getting older!
  8. I've had the Thor Alpini 8.5 ton for 3 or 4 years now. No problems at all with it
  9. This one is well worth a read.
  10. On eBay, you can get Chinese type bare unit ones, running of makita batteries for around £65. Just got one. Not used it yet.
  11. Have you an update on the panther chain Jamie? Do you find it sharpens better than the Husqvarna?
  12. Cheers Chris
  13. Thanks. I'm wondering if some are mechanical and some electric. A bloke on an Avant Facebook page had said his 423 has done exactly the same as mine since new. (not same engine, I know)
  14. Whilst turning key, to ON. (Not heater plugs) is it normal to hear the continuous clicking of the electric fuel pump? Engine is Kubota D722. Never noticed it till now. Think it's normal, but would like confirmation please.
  15. Going to see these old timers in November. A blast from my past!
  16. I've had one for about a year now. Very happy with it.
  17. Have you considered just leaving them and planting around them.? That's what normally happens with plantings I've been involved with.
  18. I've googled the 'volcano type' holes and they do similar to my photo. I've emailed FC the photo. Not heard anything back yet.
  19. Found at the base of a Sitka spruce located in garden, not forest. Any ideas what it is? Just appeared over the last few weeks according to the client. Seems like bark dust (frass) to me, but I'm a little out of my depth here. Could it be great spruce bark beetle or something similar? Crown of tree appears normal
  20. Love this cover version of moonlight shadow by Pina and the coladas.
  21. Tea bag in flask, followed by boiling water. No milk. Let it stew all day. Never clean the flask. Have been doing this for decades.
  22. As a big Rush fan. This live performance takes some beating. https://youtu.be/VuHS-gjMiVw
  23. Your right. 0.75 or 0.6 tubes are a lot better choice. However, they don't address the deer problem. I've planted many 1000s. Always go for the smallest tubes you can get away with. Sometimes, the specification is to use 1.2m tubes for conifers, hazel, and hawthorn etc. Totally the wrong choice. But I, just get on with it nowadays. I've also just planted 500 in biodegradable 0.75 shelters. What a waste of time and money that was. Not my choice, just following the spec.
  24. Anyone had any experience of using sirane earthboard tree guard? I've planted thousands in the past, mostly tubex, but I've been instructed to use these for a new planting.
