  1. I'm still hoping to make my annual pilgrimage to Wick later in the summer (I did say hoping) in the Navara which happily accommodates all the boards perfectly. You got his address? ?
  2. OK. It was just a thought based on things near me on the Surrey/Kent border.
  3. Your friend mightn't be interested in 5-6' x 18-24" x 1.5 and 2" Tulip boards might he? ?
  4. I thought that too; it's too early for HC buds to be that developed isn't it except perhaps in the far South West?
  5. Not the weather to be out in at night dressed like that. I hope he's found safe and well and can get his problems sorted.
  6. Well Buckeye is an American name for several members of the Aesculus genus which contains Horse Chestnut. I'm not sure the form of the tree is right for HC though an immature specimen may take that form but it could be another Aesculus, e.g. flava.
  7. Light cloud and 5 minutes of light snow just now. A tad chilly.
  8. Sorry Mark - nothing personal; I'll talk to anyone ? I just forgot to come back to this thread. I'd be more than happy to leave you with some boards next time I'm passing. Obvs that won't be soon but will definitely keep it in mind.
  9. My wife related this to me from an Instagram story that happened a few miles away. GP visits a lady at home; boots and suits, examines her and opines that she's showing symptoms of COVID. Steps outside to write up his notes at which point the alleged patient exits the house; 'Thanks for coming; me and my mates are just off to get some coffee and cakes'. You couldn't make these people up.
  10. Me too but one must maintain decorum don't you think? ?
  11. Laura Kuenssberg I think - BBC Political Editor. Argumentative, combative little... madam.
  12. And is a heck of a nice guy; a good one to work for I'm sure. I've PM'd him about this thread.
  13. Green woodpeckers too. We had one repeatedly visiting the same patch of lawn that turned out to be infested with chafer grubs.
  14. I wonder if it was an attempt to keep tree rats off.
  15. Hi Steve. They're 6' long milled at 1.5", 2" and one @2.5". All 2' wide more or less. I'd be grateful if you could persuade him. He wouldn't need to collect them of course; I can handle your coffee!
  16. None! I don't work wood: when I wanted just a nice cheese board I got you to make me one!
  17. I could be tempted... ? ...only to find you weren't talking to me ?
  18. To add to the doubt my thought was a large hawthorn.
  19. A relevant thread. I was given a Tulip stem a couple of years ago and had it milled by an Arbtalker. I've recently sold 4 of 27 boards! It is beautiful stuff with its butter yellow heartwood but what do I do with a load of 6' x 2' Tulip boards?!
  20. I can't see why it wouldn't work. My Brian James tipper has a payload of 2T and the option of underslung ramps that may bear 1.3T. Why build in ramp storage if the trailer's unsuitable for loading machines? Of course BJ also make tippers of larger capacity.
  21. Er - did you get my PM? But I'm not fussed or desperate!
  22. You're a boy in the job... 60p for a pint of Harveys.
  23. Good to hear. Thanks. ?
  24. Was thinking about him the other day in the context of the crap winter and what a previous such winter did to him. Is he OK as far as you know? I met him once very briefly in the car park of Exeter Services ?

    Lock Down?

...unless said oldies have been generous in the 7 years before their demise. Then the nouveau riche rellies will find a very nasty letter from HMRC landing on their doorstep ?
