  1. Eggs, there was no sly dig - not my style. Apology not needed and our pasts are our pasts - thank God!
  2. You certainly get into the wrong trade!! Daughter's earning ~£35k in her first year with Deloitte, bf's earning at least that in his second year with the country's 5th largest accountants. Son's earning ~£40k playing with code on a keyboard (has Masters in Computer Science), gf's converting to Law with KWM, huge law firm based in Hong Kong. Emplyers vary hugely in their treatment of their employees: Deloitte are very personnel orientated whilst a previous employer in the family, IBM, are American - i.e. staff are resources, not people.
  3. Not sure if they can help you directly but you could ask Greenwaste at Keston.
  4. They rent. My daughter and other half are paying £1700pcm in Wimbledon and my son and other half have just got themselves a bargain in West Dulwich at a mere £1300pcm. For those left who'd like to buy a) the mortgage repayments would be astronomical but the way to keep them down is to b) put down a huge deposit first, which they can't afford either. But not everyone wants to buy like they did 20-30 years ago. Today's young things live for the moment more than we did and want to globetrot so are happy to spend on rent they can afford and have spending money left over rather than on a mortgage that would leave them nothing for leisure. The globetrotting can either be holidays or time living abroad. In the case of the latter an intended move to a different country in 2-3 years is another reason not to get a mortgage. (My answer to that one is 'buy now if you can and rent it out when you go abroad' but it falls on deaf ears). I understand the desire to live now and to see the world but I do wonder if these people realise that they are either going to need to make big money in their middle years in order to retire before they're 75 or they're likely to retire with next to nothing behind them: mention the words 'pension plan' and you're met with rolling eyes!
  5. My dad had a couple similar to the one hanging on the wall; quite a challenge for an 8-year old.
  6. Don't count on it! Laburnum anagyroides, laburnum - THE POISON GARDEN website
  7. BFG ATs. Drove an hour to deepest East Sussex and back yesterday on a variety of roads and pushed the mpg from 27 to 31.
  8. Yeah I should have mentioned that bit; a heavy right foot makes a plug-in expensive but I drive like an old woman with an eye on the mpg so have a dainty little size 9 on the gas. My Nav's averaging around 30mpg; John O'Groat's and back recently got me over 36. The Powerbox lets me do everything a gear up than without it. The fact that a plug-in is removeable is a huge plus.
  9. Have you considered a plug-in such as a PSI Powerbox? Britpart
  10. Got it thanks but crikey - that's a 1" gap! At least it is on my 11 plate Kingcab.
  11. What are we looking at Steve? I can't work it out; I'm getting dizzy looking at all those reflections.
  12. You're right; in Jap 4x4s I can only do it in 2WD
  13. A lot; it stops the clutch-riding but doesn't work when reversing round corners!
  14. I never look at what forum a post is in. I assumed you were on about chipper blades. My bad... sorry leedeerman; I'll go back to sleep.
  15. Green Plant are recommended to me. Green Plant UK Limited - How to contact us
  16. That ladder rack thingie looks great if you don't have what they call a ladder rack fitted! Steve, does your Nav really have the rear screen exposed with no protection?
  17. Now I wasn't expecting that; I feared that such a distinctive piece of kit that someone had gone to a lot of trouble to half inch would be a long, long way away. But I'm very glad to be wrong. Great news.
  18. With the shorter handle I guess the X25 will fail on some logs that the X27 will manage. If you want a shorter handle have you considered the X17? Smaller head but, just like its bigger brothers, surprisingly capable. X27 + X17 would give you the best of both worlds; maximum capability when needed, short handle much of the time.
  19. And got it past his assessor on his assessment? Really?
  20. Just needs a few posts in a line and the webbing tying to them surely? The sheep will think you're the best thing since sliced bread; the grass behind the barrier will be eaten to bowling green length.
  21. Oh yeah, so it has. Beau, you said yourself that the above idea worked with 'a reasonable gap' so why not set it up with a reasonable gap?!
  22. How about erecting a filtering barrier a few feet in front of the IBCs so that the wind is heavily reduced by the time it hits them? Not a solid barrier but some kind of mesh or slatted affair? Stock barns used to be fitted with what we referred to as parawebbing and it was brilliant; ample ventilation but not the full force of the wind or rain.
  23. That's a good point - CCTV; it's everywhere. Research the best route(s) away and check for CCTV; pubs, hotels, office blocks etc. but be quick; most owners don't keep the footage long.
  24. Have you plastered this over social media?
  25. I doubt it! I saw one in March last year on a phone wire at Dormansland. Poor creature didn't stand a chance.
