Just curious. On dead sapwood of willow. Oops forgot pic.
  3. Four cylinder in TW does it unless you keep the rad really clean.
  4. Err...what make is it? Probably Chinese. Better off with secondhand Stihl or Husky. At least you'll be able to get spares.
  5. Timber fallers I worked with once sharpened saws like you wouldn't believe. For pop felling it was 100 +cc saw and the depth gauges taken right down. Full throttle and hold on:001_smile:
  6. Hope you haven't got stew or mince:laugh1:
  7. Started this job in '78 and went self-employed in '87. I have always striven to do the best possible job and juggled college in as well. In '87 there were so few in Yellow pages that I used to get work upto 90 miles away regularly. Flat out wasn't the word! Now it seems there's a 1001 'tree surgeons' all 'fully qualified'. I'm not knocking the decent guys but there's a lot of dead wood out there. Anyway....rant over, wine's kicking in and I'm too old and bodily knackered to bother now:001_smile: PS...still ain't made a fortune.
  8. Well we finished early and as it's a little while before tea just thought I'd share it:001_smile:
  9. We reported it to client officer but they won't do a thing about it. Just sending another contractor to clean it up.
  10. I'd put it straight back with the shovel but we've already upset loads of residents and as the job's for LA then we got to keep schtum. Dirty $**!**s
  11. Been doing a job for habitat creation ie. laying a mix of field maple, thorn and hazel on the verge bordering a housing estate. After half a mile we reach the last twenty yards and find this: a huge festering pile of dog poo which the householder obviously finds easier to throw over the fence than dispose of properly. What you can't see is the well-rotted area around the pile. Don't think this job's going any further:001_smile:
  12. That's what I'd do. Sharp saw, keep cutting and be aware.
  13. We also found a few others and my first find/recorded incedent of Ustulina duesta on Acer psuedoplatanus, I was aware it infected Acer platanoides, but have never personaly seen it on Sycamore before. Couple of pics from last year.
  14. Looks good: clear, concise...does the job.
  15. Not the clearest pics but bracket looks like Ganoderma applanatum and not sure about 'rooms.
  16. Drive links and tie straps are no problem but I've never bought loose cutters. Didn't think they sold them seperately.
  17. I think you al need this; The Sweets Graveyard
  18. Red band needle blight. V probably the culprit here. Affects nigra.
  19. Its wood is second only to yew for bow making.
