1. Heard this from a quad bike dealer this week. Soon Europe is bringing in legislation to make quad manufacturers fit diffs to the rear axle, (to make them go round corners better) none of the japanese manufacturers are going to do this, get your quad bikes now!
2. I think this touches a bigger point. There are many people who have to put immense effort into their appearance as they are not happy how they look / how they feel / excessively concerned with how they appear t others (not talking about the Italians whose bella figura mind set produces very stylish people). Whereas there is another group of people who are happy who they are (and with themselves) and care less who they appear to other people. A high concentration of these people are found at the APF.
3. Ask for a discount with national hire chains, based on your spend. Got a 77% discount off list price from HSS and got Gap to match it.
4. One with an alarm, a motion sensor that tells you if it has been moved, immobiliser, tracker (two different types), wheel clamp on front and rear axle, secured to a ground anchor with a motorbike lock, in a properly secure alarmed, blaster siren and smoke generator locked container with a rabid dawg. Once you've sorted that out, the world is your oyster (don't buy chinese makes, one of our lads had one, the front axle collapsed as he went down a kerb, he put his leg down and he did that thing where his knee rotates )
5. Not the first time lots of Tree Surgeons have said that a Monkey Puzzle needs no work done to it!
6.
had same issue. Contacted vanarama, got a no deposit, pay vat as you go deal on finance where I end up owning it (L200 4work). It was so cheap I still cannot believe it. They were excellent to deal wit. End up owning it, as a finance package where you hand it back, as a "dirty trade" you will pay thousands in damages.

7. After advising people on this, we added a page to our website. In summary Right tree for right location, look after it and put a strimmer guard on it. Memorial & Commemorative Trees ? Ruskins Trees
8. TPO/CA/Planning Condition, protects every leaf, every root and the environment of the tree (it's rooting area).
9. We have learnt when putting shrouds on, make them very thick and place a horizontal shelf underneath so that no tools can get up inside the shroud. We also have another way of securing, anyone can message me re it
10. Dave Sickening When you say smashed the padlocks, were they 'exploded' into smaller bits? Were padlocks inside shrouds?
11. Pollinator ? If not a self fertile variety. Perhaps a pollinator was nearby when the tree had loads of fruit and the explanation why it has none/one now it that it has gone.
12. Went to a country house a few years back, met the lady of the house, who spoke with her expensively educated voice and carefully explained that she needed screening and thought a Penis would be best. The conversation included the following gems: How she needed at 15ft high Penis How good her Penis would be at screening How big would her Penis be after ten years Amazingly I kept it together, not referring to Pinus or Pinus 10 minutes, for amongst other things hoping she would carry on telling others about her need!
13. I was told the law is a bit weird with pigeons, you cannot disturb their nest but you can shoot them even if flying to / from a nest. Is this right?
14. Best advice I had on managing stress, which helps me is Decide what real stress is, set the bar very high, everything else is not stress.
15. No that's right. You only need a CPC if you are a driver. If the main part of your job is driving you need a CPC. If you drive to a location and then do your work and drive back you do not need. Alot of the info in the public domain is from CPC trainers. Hence the misinformation.
16. A bit of info, that maybe of use. I was told by a nurseryman that they need a "mineral soil".
17. Could have sworn it was larch lap
18. The real question is who has indemnity insurance. As I understand it although anyone can give advice, it is only when they have indemnity insurance that their advice can be relied on (in the sense if it is wrong you can sue them and the insurance company should pay out (ideally)). This is why clients should always specify the works they require and contractors without indemnity insurance should never offer recommendations, as if it is wrong...they can be sued and not covered by indemnity insurance.
19. This BS has to become part of the planning approval. It will ensure most importantly of all 5 years maintenance of all newly planted trees. As well as correct selection, handling and planting. It would also massively help Local Authority Tree Plantings by the same specifications. Fed up of seeing trees: Wrong tree for the location Inadequate rooting area / pit surfacing Lack of maintenance Dieback Failures Many trees just about make it through the std 12months, as poor quality specimens, on a downward spiral to death. Long after the developer has gone.
20. We had a visit, they used a quad or John Deere Gator to access across a field. Jaws of life hydraulic cutters, where they could not get these to work, they used a mini jack within the shroud of the padlock to shatter it. M25 J29
21. CPC only applies to drivers whose main job is driving. If a driver drives to site and works, then drives back he does not need CPC Much of the info out there re cpc is written by training companies selling cpc training. Lots of people are being conned by this.
22. The HS81 T is the version for a neat cut, the R stands for rough, horses for courses!
