  1. Roundup and mixture B, with monthly sprayings. As for disposal, your talking big money as its controlled waste.
  2. Both, I run a 357, 575 , 441 IMO stihl curently have the edge but I consider things on a saw by saw basis based on power, weight and balance in use as oposed to brand. BTW, the 441 is shoulders above the 575, a tad less tourq but a farr more nimble saw
  3. No, If I dont someone else will.

    Which saw?

A MS260 will serve you well. No point getting a bigger saw at more cost, just use an 18" bar and double cut any big stuff. If you were wanting a daily use saw then id sudgest the 441 or 460 but these are out the budget.
  5. Highest would be £70, averadge of £10-£20, quite a few bottles of wine.
  6. Reading this thread has made me thankfull for what Ive got, alas taking a step back I can see some of the charcter traits in myself and the problems in my own business. Thankfully I can still switch off ....ocasionally.
  7. For regular use of a 30" the 460, generally a good saw by all acounts. As general day to day saw the 441, as has been said the 441 is hapiest with a 20".
  8. The 441 pulls a 25" no problem although I prefer to run mine with a 20"
  9. I have a 441 and a 575, The saw I pick up first is the 441,perfectly balanced, good on fuel and powerfull enough for 90% of what I do. Im very tempted to sell my 575 and get a second 441, the husqy although a tad tourqyer feels unnbalanced in comparision and is more thirsty. 372 is a good proven saw and id sooner run one than my 575 but the 441 is IMO better.
  10. Best tip is to sharpen very regularly, farr better to do a few strokes of the file than to cut till its really blunt and end up having to spend a long time sharpening. Not sure what a 211 is like, smallest stihl Ive used was a 023 which was basicly ok altough not a pro machine.
  11. Ive been happily illegally towing for the last eight years!!! Ive booked and paid for training and a C test followed by C1 and sat and passed the theory but wont get the chance to book the time off for the training and test till the late autumn. The whole thing is a heap of utter bolocks and a money maker for the DVLA.
  12. Id also rather the 357 over the 361. That said, I run a 441 as my everyday saw.
  13. Not sure how anyone can defend them, they were a total utter bunch of chancers! BTW, did anyone notice that on day two the climber had brought a helmet!!!!
  14. I use a single sided Echo HC341ES (1m blade). I rate it farr better than either stihl or Husqy having used both, better starting and running and low very vibes. The blade deflector alone is worth its weight..... an expensive add on on the stihl and husqy!
  15. I wear anti syrindge gauntlets when working on hawthorn or blackthorn. Not cheap but no thorns get through and there is suficient grip to operate a saw trigger.
  16. Timber cutter, regards cutting at the moment, If we are talking bowling green or tennis court then id agree with you however for ordinary grass areas your talking a load of balls. Nowt wrong with a high cut now as long as its growing and around here it is. I cant see any point in cutting in December/ Jan/ Feb and indeed this is likely to cause problems but as long as the weather is suitably warm then beginning the cutting regime in Early March is IMO fine.
  17. I did the first cut and scarify two weeks ago, By next monday all my contracts will be cut. I work on a Feb- end of November schedule. Nowt wrong with an early cut as long as the ground is firm and the blades not too low.
  18. Rather than buy a second hand 044 at the excellent price of £180 you decided to buy some Chinese heap of crud saving £100. The two machines aren't even comparable. Personally Id of rather had an older machine with a few scrapes that works when you need it than a brand new heap of junk that breaks first time its used. You might only cut two trees a year but with the stihl you could ree sell it for what you bought it from, the cheapo youll be lucky to get £50
  19. Id tirfor them, my woory with the chainsaw winch is the winch could stall and kickback
  20. Ford transit MK6 for most work and a D22 nissan Navara as a general drive and for heavy towing and off road.
  21. Steve, Have you thought about protektakote, Unlike speedliner that has to be sprayed protektakote can be brushed on therefore you can do your own vehicle. You can save a fortune. http://www.protectakote.co.uk/kits.htm I have done it on all my vans and it lasts. My last van it lasted 5 years prior to me selling the van. If you do it properly it equaly good to the sprayed liners. Just after applying it: 12 months later:
  22. I have a Navara, all I would describe it as is OK. Paintwork and interior poor, sidewindows mist, bad turning circle. plus points are its quick and tows ok. Overall I probably wouldnt buy another.
  23. I wouldn't say the 880 has any bad points, yes its heavy and drinks fuel but in reality it will only come out for the real big stuff, when it comes out as with the 3120 it does the job nicely. Personally I'm happy with my 575 or 441 with 25" bar and a nice sharp chain. Id rather double cut than be having a big saw lying around the store ..... one more thing for someone to steal. Some day ill get a 660 but I wouldn't personally need or want anything bigger.

    Bosch or NGK

Ive always found the bosch better, Only ever seen them for sale a couple of times sadly. If anyone can find details of a dealer that will post them Id happily order 20 straight off.
