  1. Never botherd with them, I just wear yellow grip gloves
  2. I have a JCB tough phone, Basic but has blue tooth and so far has lasted well (9 months).
  3. Id echo husqys needing a bit more maintenance, also I find stihls almost always fire first pull with choke and run on the second or third pull, were as husky usually take a few more, often three or four pulls to initially fire. All this talk of the 660 has got me tempted lol then again Ive managed without one for the last 5 years.
  4. The stihl 260 is sound for light work. 357 is heavier but more powerfull. I have a 357 as a spare saw and rate it as OK but not as nice as the old 254s I previusly used. I would never buy a 361 as I had one for a while and the airfilter never sealed corectly. I like a 70cc saw as a general day to day saw and to this end run a husky 575 on 25 and 28" bars and a 441 on 20" The 441 is the handier saw and quicker for small stuff but not the tourq of the husky. Whatever feels right is my advice.
  5. Good going to lose the bastard*. We used to get followed occasionally with the company vans when I was employed and the store was cleaned out several times overnight. This is the main reason these days as self employed I don't sign write my vehicles. I might not spread my name but I draw less attention especially as I often have to park a distance from were I'm working.
  6. I couldn't see any problem other than a lack of ppe, as the work was being done on his own land he has no obligation to wear any. The actual cutting was faultless. Ill bet the guy has a few interesting stories to tell, hopefully when I'm his age Ill still be able to handle a big saw.

"A friend of mine a farm labourer who sprayed burnt the inside of his nose and lost his sense of smell then he had cancer of the bowel, then lungs then spine then he died aged 54 one month before a dream holiday to australia. we all do some things we should not but we should think hard on the advise given" But were the above ailments caused by the chemicals he sprayed or is it simply supposition that they were? Alarmist reactions to chemicals only result in them being withdrawn and the loss of usefull 'tools' take for instance strychnine hydrochloride or cymag both previously used in pest control.

If roundup was of the hazard implied the use as a cut stump treatment would not be approved on the label.

Roundup 450 Biactive to the dilution on the label for cut stump treatment, or timbrel and red derv.
  10. Ive had one 12 months and love it, pulls a 28" happily and has buckets of tourq, Not as fast cutting in small stuff or as balanced as my 441 but IMO a better in big stuff. Ive heard very bad things about them on other sites and see very few being used with most folk still buying 372s. Do you use one and do you like it?
  11. Most irritating has got to be changing the bar over, tightening bar nuts to finger tight when phone goes and you forget to finish them tightening them off with the wrench....... Que to start cutting when 5 mins later one of the bas*** nuts falls off never to be found Invaribly happens on a Friday afternoon with the pickup and spare saws etc a miles walk away!!
  12. Nice one, did you use that pole trimmer for the sides? I like to use a single sider 40" for speed then follow up with the pole for what I cant easily reach. That hanging shoulder attachment certainly looks good, Ill be investing in one. I cut some very wide hedges up to 15' and normally use a HL75 followed by swapping the trimmer head on to my HT75, back ache inducing but gets the job done, that backpack can only help to reduce the weight.
  13. I have a 03 plate, tows legally 2.7 tons, mine has done 100k without anything mnore than a routine service. My mate on the other hand had the engine go on his (con rod through the block) Good on and off road and comparatively comfy tows well. Bad points, fuel economy, Turning circle, Side windows mist and don't clear properly.
