  1. Hi , i came to start my 190 turbo 2008 today after a year of non use, and having re charged the batery. But only the 1st egnition light comes on not the glow plug light , and nothing is hapening ?. There is the usual clicking that you hear whilst waiting for the glow light ( no light) to go out but nothing else . Not any sound from the starter motor. I have very little mecanical knolage , any advise greatfully reseved

  4. Thanks for your comments, my old saw was the 044 and will be missed for its power to weight performance, I did on occasion use a 30'' bar and it threw the chain round no problem, but it has blown up, 10-12 years later. I've gone for the ms460 and will let you know how it goes ones I've run it in (3tanks on 3/4 revs). I have an Alpina pro700, which I got in a swap about 10 years ago and keep thinking it will go one day, if and when it does I'll try a Makita, but the yellow peril had never let me down even when run with no mix (by mistake, 8years ago and blew up two ms200T's)
  5. After many years of loyal service, my ms440 has blown up, and needs replacing. Looking at the spec, both 441 & 460 are the same weight but the 441 has less power but cheaper & lower vibrations and emissions. However I want to be able to run it all day with a 25''- 30'' if needed, so the 460 looks to be the favorite. I already have a 660 & 880 but like the maneuverability of the 440 in the tree. Any one got any 1st hand experience to compare ?
  6. I may have work in the neer future. We're based neer loughborough. Call me on 07809569500
  7. I have bought 2 Husky blue bags in a year and both have burst. I really like the blue barrel idea. The key is not to put pulleys blocks & wedges in. Just ropes & harness and not over fill them. All hard items now go in a metal tool box.
  8. I recently submitted a tender for local authority work and was asked to include our health & Safety policy plus generic method statements & risk assessments. I also attended a pre assessment work shop for the AA approved contractors scheme. All of which has high lited the issue of staff training including NPTC. However the bottom line is or so it seems that as the employer I have to determine 'On the day' whether the person is competent to undertake the task I assign. Now apart from ill health or being under the influence, shurley being NPTC qualified should mean that the person is competent. However after recently holding a series of practical interviews for a new climber ,none of the candidates i saw were competent'. So if we are going to have to have tickets lets make sure that they are given to people who deserve them rather than handing them out and then putting the full responsibility on the employer. Personally I would welcome it if they made any one who works on protected trees be registered in the same way a gas fitter is corgi registered or at least enforce BS3998 One last thing why do they ask you to pay a registration fee for every NPTC ticket you take even if you are doing 2 in a day.
  9. Thanks for that ! Real food for thought. I imagine you had many a night staring at the sealing until you came up with that idea.
  10. A hollow tree doesn't allways meen the end. the rule i go by ,is if theres 60% of the base in tact & it has solid butresses, it's worth a punt. Shigo says ' A tree isnt hollow because its old, Its old because its hollow.
