  1. Today coming back home I lost my top 4 gears, about a month ago I lost my bottom 4 gears but no idea how got them back. Any ideas to what the problem is? It's a 8speed in a u1000. It's rather painful travelling at 15mph wen it can do 50mph. Tia
  2. Could you not try a set of 540's? Will be much less hassle for you, I have them on my sprayer and at just under 10ton its suprising how they travel well and it really has to be wet to make a mess. Everybody is different and has different situations but if was me I would be looking for a set of wider tyres and forget duals. Yes it might cost more but surely be worth it.
  3. Highland forestry Will have a look I know we have some bits for a mb trac 1000 in the workshop.
  4. The stresses involved with duals can be a great deal! If doing a lot of pulling then I would say 4 would be minimum, then the pressure in the tyres need to be equal this won't be a problem with a mog but still takes time to do. If don't keep the wheels on level ground then chances of breaking the dish are high, for example have a dual on a stump and the inside tyre on nowt, thats an example it could be kerbs, grip holes etc.
  5. Personally I wouldn't bother have seen the damage that can be done to tractors! If wanting to tread lighter I would get a complete set of wider tyres. If adamant want duals then would say 4 clamps a dual.
  6. I have a palax ks35 and very happy with it, beauty of having chains is can swap them as they become blunt but won't save a great deal of time that way. Like already said get in touch with Jim at caledonian forestry he will give you help and advice where needed. Welcome to the forum.
  7. Looking good!! A hoodie would be nice in the collection if you decide to expand it.
  8. And where is the sport in that?? In my opinion the hunts are bad losers when they send the terriers in, once the fox has made it home then its game over end of!!! Also the day before the hunt go round blocking pots&outfalls, bridges and even filling badger sets in!!! And the sport in that is?? This is something I have SEEN and not heard! What a sad lot of people to get enjoyment and kicks out of that!
  9. So the healthy ones get away then??
  10. Hunting is the best method of fox-control going. How do you work that out??
  11. Was planning on south of France again for two weeks may-june time but got our 1st arrival coming soon so might be a bit much. Prob do the lakes instead.
  12. I am a country lad always have been an always will. I despise the hunt because of their actions and shocking attitude!! The followers are no better looking at you like muck, blocking roads up parking either side and riders expecting u to turn engine off!! Yeh right dream on! If horses are easily spooked then they ain't fit to be in that situation! Rant over
  13. o if only!! would sell the car and make do with that if i could as a runabout! trouble is i aint a car worth that much.
  14. Nope it's a splitter home made and bolted on. quite right, first saw picture on phone just looked at it on laptop! wouldnt say it would be ideal though, be a slow way of splitting am guessing its a two man operation, one dealing with wood and someone keeping warm in cab dabbing the button?? i know can get continous flow for front attachments but not sure about back attachments. who knows could wrong for the second time.
  15. I think you might find this is a pick up hitch not a splitter.
  16. have just had a look on caledonian forestry site and see jim has some palax ks35's with boosters anybody any idea what this is??
  17. Think last one is tomorrow night, could be wrong though.
  18. looks very professional and informative in easy to understand plain english! i look forward to the phase 2 as am a husky user. also any chance of doing a section for firewood processors?? the sprockets etc for palax for example??
  19. That's the way forward! Brill

  22. If type log grab in eBay you will come across grabs for mini-diggers, are they called thumb grab possibly?
  23. Let me get this right, some of you charge double because its a Sunday or emergency??
  24. Ni tree, they are very strange for 1st week or so but soon adjust to their way of operating. They have immense pulling power compared to the wheeled kind. have just done my 1st harvest on it.
  25. Have just started using using morris mineral oil (chroma I think) and so far am happy with it.
