  1. If it was fire damage , i would expect to see alot more damage to the base of the tree to correspond with the levels of damage higher up. I don't think squirrels like horse chestnut, so i would be heading for some form of canker, or kids
  2. £100 per m3
  3. If you fancy a road trip out west, i have a couple of Beech stems that are 10' long and about 24" top diameter.
  4. Smooth rigging
  5. I have 4 sets of the Stihl pro comms for about 18 months. Despite a very wet winter they are still working fine The noise reduction means you can talk next to a running chipper and be heard by all. The only thing that lets them down is the stupid visor mount.
  6. Ahh the porting pimp plying his evil wares.🥰
  7. Yes indeed. Brilliant for my forestry needs.
  8. This is both morphs of KD
  9. Thats less than i pay my experienced ground workers. @AA Teccie (Paul) that doesn't put our industry in a very good light.
  10. Its been a while, but you lucky people can have the pleasure of another gripping video from the Hairy Fool. You might have to pause it half way through, because it might be just too exciting............... Enjoy #Dullasditchwater
  11. Whether you are a felling God or not, we all pick up bad habits, and it Is good to be reminded of said bad habits. I wouldn't employ someone who didn't want to do the refresher. One refresher every 5 years costs you pence a day.
  12. Learn to say no. As a subbie you will be brought in to deal with dangerous/ difficult trees that they don't want to do. Always ask questions, you will be amazed at what gems you pick up from the most unexpected sources . Don't take on debt unless you are very sure.
  13. But it doesn't get away from the fact, it was piss poor lunge
  14. A+ for ambition D- for execution
  15. @David Humphries A tiny bit of geotropism
  16. Not Elm, buds are not angular enough .
  17. Wot be the pointy thing Shavey?
  18. That looks a bit like a wood wax
  19. The frame was second hand, and i bought new plastic . It was a storm damaged frame, so a couple of the hoops were unusable .
  20. I use billets because I don't need expensive handling machinery to move potato boxes/vented log bags. A 3' billet can be cut in 6,9,12,& 18" logs, which is all the sizes i sell. Billets mean more manual handling, but it suits me.
  21. And if you can wait a bit, i have just started a block of beech which is the finest quality, and you won't get better in Wales.
  22. If you can find a lorry, i can supply you with either shit grand fir, or cracking ash. Give me a ring 07966 792798 Its in Stackpole, so not far from you. Murray
  23. Dispite one of the wettest winters, my billets have remained below 20%. After a couple of hours sun, the logs feel warm to the touch, even on a frosty day. Good air flow helps, all for the bargain price of £500. I am going to have to get some flexible exhaust pipe, a Zetor in a confined space is not ideal.
  24. There nothing like the feeling of a metal seat on a frosting day.
